The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I'm trying to think of good ways of fundraising for a charity very close to my heart (Teenage Cancer Trust) and want to do something outside the box....so not just running!

any ideas?

My friends and I did a fundraiser where we didn't speak (including text message) for an entire day. It was reaaally hard but I found people were willing to donate because it was something a little different and fun. We ended up raising over $1000 to help people with AIDS in Africa.
Good luck!
thats crazy! how on earth did you manage?! good idea tho, thanks
my brother had to raise some money for a scholarship for a class - him and his teammates did a bar party to raise money. They made a deal with the bar owners and sold packages to all guests, with a portion of proceeds going to the charity. Though that is probably not very original... :) you can also try to get tickets to some event for free (say that you want them for a charity) and raffle them off... we did that one at work when we were raising money for the Heart Walk. Also, one guy raffled off his son's old car that would have probably sold for about $400-500 - he collected $1300 for the tickets, and then wrote the car off for a tax deduction.
I've found that bake sales are really good. Or doing something along the lines of a 40 hour famine (people donate a certain amount if you don't eat for 40 hours. People tend to take pity on you if you've decided to forgo food!) (And of course, it doesnt have to be 40 hours, just using it as an example). Good luck! :-)
For a cool twist on a bake sale, and something teens will enjoy: have a boobs and balls bake sale. I did it in college for Relay For Life. We had round sugar cookies with blue icing 'Blue Balls' and round sugar cookies with pink icing and a pink M&M in the middle 'Boobs'.

It was our way of showcasing that cancer affects both men and women. We made a ton of money and ran out of cookies! Sell 2 for $1 and and they get a complete set :)
At my high school the got an old car & charged people $1 a hit w/ a sledgehammer or bat. The guys seemed to really enjoy it.
If you're willing to do invest more time you could plan a concert or small music festival.
