Google Plus has stepped into the battle with mixed reviews and an invite only scheme at the moment just like its g-mail extravaganza. So whos gonna rat whom up?

I had no desire to try this until I read the words "Invite Only"

Weird...

HAHA me too!
I think the reason facebook has lasted so long is because everyone is on it - in the past people were spread across Myspace, Bebo and various other ones I don't remember. But everyone now has facebook and so unless everyone migrates to google+, I won't bother because, for me, social networking is about keeping up with all of the people I've met through the years. And for as long as there are people like me waiting for everyone else to migrate, there will surely never be a point when everyone has plus because we're all waiting for everyone else!

This is my theory anyway...

For me, Facebook offered a lot of what I didn't want over the years so I deleted my account in 2008. I recently created an account this year to stay connected with 15 people I met while overseas who mainly use Facebook to communicate. I really like the improvements this social network has made but the only features I use on the site are messaging and the occasional image or wall post.

In terms of convenience, Google+ would be my ideal choice since I use a lot of Google products. For instance, logging into Gmail is just part of my daily routine. And Google+ is only a tab away on the dashboard. I'm also focused on online branding these days too so I feel what Google+ is offering might fit what I'm looking for.

As for everyone joining, I'm willing to wait it out since I really like the interface. Even if all my friends don't embrace it, it's not a big deal for me to keep Facebook around too. Friends I already managed to send a G+ invite like what they see so far. But only time will tell if this social network will stick.

There is a lot that bothers me about facebook and I love google so I would be willing to give it a shot.  I do not have an invite though so yeah.

Ginny,

Got a word that it's open for EVERYBODY now ;) Guess they already got it pretty much stable and figured that the only way to win is to let everybody IN ;)

I can't handle another social media site to maintain. Ugh. It's so exhausting being so connected!
I think Google Plus could do well, if they get enough people to join. One of the infuriating things about Facebook is that they're not terribly user-focused--they roll out changes without testing or responding to any feedback, and just expect people to live with the changes. I was annoyed when they forced me to turn all of my favorite books on my profile into links to pages, which, even when I allowed it so my books wouldn't disappear, ended up erasing over half of my list.

Google is much better known for rolling things out slowly and soliciting user feedback. Even if they don't fix everything they should, I still think they might have a leg up on Facebook if they're smart about it.
Mark Z is out of touch with what actual people want and doesn't care if we like the changes or not.  Where else is everyone going to go right now.  He has the market cornered.  I hope it goes the way of myspace and everyone ditches facebook.
I think it's all up to the marketing schemes now. Not to mention actual site quality which I find Google+ has the hangout thing, which does stand out a bit as well as their 'circles'. Although most people like to stick to their comfort zone, or what to what is familiar. I will definitely be trying it out, it just depends whether most of the people that I talk to merge, that will define on what I use more, or primarily.

I just did a little post about the differneces, if you want to take a gander.

Google Plus, is it right for you?

Do it, it's good for the goose!
