The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I think because we mostly missed out on some of its early disease course, individuals in our generation tend not to be as concerned with HIV/AIDS as previous generations (though perhaps I am wrong on this?) - so I was wondering if anyone had planned to do anything/has done anything with respect to World AIDS Day?

More generally, I was wondering if twenty somethings generally (i) know people with HIV/AIDS, (ii) consider yourselves at risk for contracting HIV (and does this affect your decision making - e.g. by causing you to not engage in certain acts or use condoms), (iii) have any other personal experience with HIV/AIDs, etc.

Also, if you do not think it is a significant issue, why not? Do you perceive it as being an illness that only affects certain groups, do you think it's not much of an issue in the "first world" today, etc.

Would love to hear peoples' thoughts :)

Not quite sure that this a day you wish someone a happy day for. Maybe a, "Hey it's world AIDs day" or "hey you idiot, wear a condom and don't get AIDs."

Not happy AIDs day.
well the day is actually about increasing awareness and knowledge, which is a happy pursuit indeed!

however, i thank you for sharing your feelings on this since no one else seems to care much at all :)
I don`t know anyone with AIDS -- except maybe Magic Johnson.
But I don`t know him personally.

Maybe I`m wrong for saying this, but I think that I`m at a low risk for contracting HIV only because I`m not a person who goes around being sexually active with every male human. But I never know, a partner could have the disease, not tell me, and I could contract it. But that would be a rare scenario, seeing as I demand the usage of condoms.

I do consider this a big issue because so many people have died from it -- from being careless. I think this wouldn`t be a MAJOR crucial issue if people out there were smart and "wrap it before they tap it" and got tested regularly. There`s no shame in being safe, in my opinion. This illness isn`t just limited to one race or ethnicity or whatever, it`s a global illness. It happens everywhere, no matter what people think and/or say.

Oh and before I forget.
I think Magic Johnson has the cure for AIDS.
He`s just greedy & doesn`t want to share.
Just kidding :)

I hope more people spread awareness of this disease.
Like Phil said: "hey you idiot, wear a condom and don't get AIDs."
