The Bloggers With The Most To Say
This coming summer, I had been planning with my boyfriend to go travelling for a month across mainland Europe. Now he's chucked me, I still think I would like to go but simply go on my own. I so desperately want to get away and see the things I want to see and I think I would enjoy it on my own. I know this is something a lot of people do, plus, it would only be a month-long trip due to work commitments but I'm still slightly apprehensive about going solo in terms of safety and being lonely!
So, has anyone here been travelling on their own? Would you recommend it and do you have any advice?

It was very exciting although I was very lucky I think when it came to travelling alone. My dad did lecture me for months before about all of the dangers and I was perhaps more aware of my surrounding had he not told me these horror stories.
I still feel that I was incrediably naive and I am planning on going back to the US this summer but to a different state and I have learned so much more since last time. As a female traveller I feel that you do have to have your wits about you and generally be aware about your surroundings and the people you come in contact with.
Obviously I think that you should do it because it is a great experience and you learn a lot about yourself :)
Where in Europe are you thinking of going? :)

There are tons of others who travel alone, and people are always looking to meet new people. You will come out of it with loads of new friends. Plus, spending some time on your own in a new country is quite therapeutic. I did it in southeast Asia and don't regret it for one second!

I say do it, stay in hostels they are cheap and there are a lot of other young people traveling alone too. Don't be shy about asking people about plans and you may end up spending a few days traveling with them, or make plans to meet them in other cities. A great site I can recommend is Travel Buddy, it's a cool site, where people update where they been and where they are going. So you can plans to meet with other peoplte for lunch or a day of touristy action, or even locals who live there too. http://www.travbuddy.com/
