The Bloggers With The Most To Say

As long as we're talking about makeup and profile pics, I'm curious about how you all feel about posting awkward pictures of yourselves. I'm working on an "early morning" post that shows my fresh-out-of-bed look. No makeup. Puffy eyes. Messy Hair. Not my most flattering picture.

Have you done it before? Are you totally confident? Or are you too embarrassed to show your true selves?

(Is this even an issue for anyone else? I'm pretty sure this should be a blogger challenge. "Bloggers Exposed!")

That's a very interesting concept. I have posted some pictures of myself with no make up or undone hair--not necessarily on my blog, but on other social media sites. I think it's cool to show the world (or whoever) what we look like "undone." You know? We are human...beautiful in our imperfections.
Agreed. There are too many "perfect" photos out there. It gives us a false sense of beauty.
I kinda like this idea! I'll have to do this one day. I mean, I definitely have these pictures on facebook - why can't I post them on my blog?
I never really thought of it that way. I'll probably have to just plan it the night before, and then just snap it right away in the morning. Otherwise I'll put it off until a "good" day.

Actually, in getting my most recent profile pic, I almost put of taking it because of a dreaded zit. Instead I just used a side-profile.
I like it! I think this would be a really cool project/challenge.

I don't ever wear make up--so all my pictures are me without make up, and I woke up one morning with really crazy hair, so I snapped a shot (though I did have my face covered in that one, and haven't published the picture yet). I guess I've sort of halfway done this. In order to show the true me, it'd probably have to be a shot of me with food on my face or crumbs on my shirt, sitting in my pajamas, unshowered, at noon.
I won't lie, I am very picky about the photos that I post online, however, if you were to peruse my Facebook you would notice that I am more apt to choose sillier photos over perfect ones. (Halloween, weird faces, etc.)

I like this idea, though! If you decide to make it a challenge, I would totally participate!
The world needs more people like you :)
I posted what is perhaps the worst photo of me ever taken here and a whole montage of awful photos here and here. I think being silly and open is really important. I mean, the main pic on my About Page is nice, but that's because I don't want to scare off new readers. A couple bloggers I read did a Naked Face challenge a few months ago, where they wore no makeup or anything and took a photo. I loved it.
I did that Naked Face Challenge and it was refreshing!
At least you're honest about not wanting to post a bad picture. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't post the worst picture of me. It still has to be a semi-good non-makeup picture.
I agree. I want to see what someone actually looks like.

My mom, who doesn't feel disturbed when I talk about pussy on my blog, feels compelled to tell me at every chance she gets that my pictures are "too awkward." That I should post "prettier photos."

Sometimes your own camera lens reflects how you see yourself, and that's honesty. So my profile is just an honest MacBook photo.

I kind of feel like I can tell when someone posts a photo that is very angled and purposeful...what about you guys?
I do it pretty regularly. I would say that the vast majority of the pictures of myself on my blog are completely unflattering because I write a humor blog and pretty pictures just seem out of place.

there's some pretty bad morning face in this one:
