The Bloggers With The Most To Say
I've recently signed up for some hot yoga classes due to an irresistibly cheap deal and some vague idea of improving my health.
However, now that the post-sweet deal high has worn off some, I have some concerns. I've outlined them on my blog, but in short, I'm pretty sure I might be A) Too much of an inflexible wimp, and B) That loathed person who has to leave the heated room to pee halfway through the class due to overhydrating and weird neurosis (As soon as I know I'm not allowed to pee, I totally have to).
So, any advice from 20sb hot yogis?

I was a yoga instructor in college, so I feel pretty ok about my ability to do yoga.
I recently went to a hot yoga class and wanted to die. Granted, I haven't been to a class in years, I still stretch everyday and am still above average in flexibility. I cannot do hot yoga. I thought my face was going to melt off my face and by the end of the class, my mat was so covered in sweat, I kept slipping and could barely finish the class.
I did go to a 'heated' yoga class that wasn't the temperature of Hades, and it was actually bearable and relaxing.
Way to go for everyone who can do hot yoga.

But now that I actually know what you're talking about? Err, it sounds a little weird, to be honest... What are the benefits of doing that over "regular" yoga?
Also, I get the whole "inflexible wimp" thing - I'm very inflexible myself (I never was able to sit cross-legged!) so I guess I'd just stay well away, if I were you! haha

Apparently the heat makes for a better workout overall as your heart rate is up and you can do the poses more safely knowing your muscles are warm. Also, some people say that all the sweating really helps to detox your skin.
I've done Bikram yoga and I think it's the same thing. I was terrified for my first class and I worked myself up thinking it was going to be hot as hell. Yes, it was very hot, but because it was dry heat, it didn't feel as bad. Well, that was as I was laying there waiting for the class to start. Once it started, I (along with everyone else, of course) was sweating out of every part of my body, places I didn't even know could sweat haha like my fingertips! Don't worry about being inflexible, the heat works wonders. And you definitely won't have to pee, you sweat it all out!!
There were only a few poses that made me feel a little light headed-like when we had to look really far back, so I sometimes sat down. Other than looking like you just went swimming when you finish, you really do feel great!
I really should use the rest of my class pass that I bought... I could use a little yoga after all the crap I've eaten the past 2 weeks.
