The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I think the technical name is a jump break, but I don't remember--the "read more" links that link to the rest of the blog post rather than having the entire length post on your front page.

As a writer, do you use them? Do you like to? Do you think it's something to help break up a long post, or do you think it might turn people off?

As a reader, do you like them? Do you find them helpful, or do you find it an annoyance?

If you are not a magazine blog my opinion is you should have no jump.

A jump on a regular blog is like saying "here are a few of my words now you can judge if those words are good enough to entice you to go on".

I prefer putting the main/last post all out there giving the reader no chance to judge until the end.

I rarely read past the jump on new blogs. My regular reads, if they did that once in awhile, I would.
I sometimes do a jump, even though I know a lot of people don't continue reading.
I never do it after just one paragraph, but if a post is getting really long I like to put a jump to keep the design consistent on my main page. For example, it lets me keep fairly even spacing between pictures, and someone scrolling down doesn't have to scroll past one immense post.
I guess I lose people but if after reading 2-3 paragraphs you weren't drawn in enough to keep reading anyway, I guess you didn't find it that interesting to begin with!
I ALWAYS do a jump. I think you have to. If you post the entire article on the front page, you are losing out on quite a lot of page views. Also people may miss all your other posts below it because your most recent post is taking up the entire page. I also think it makes for a much cleaner look.
As a writer I don't use them, but my posts also don't tend to be super long.

As a reader I don't really like them. I like to be able to read the whole post without getting cut off halfway through. I usually don't click the "read more" unless I'm really interested in what the article is about.
I never do a jump. I understand it may turn away some readers, but I think the jump would as well. Plus I tend to not follow them in general so I base it off of what I'd do.
I do a jump on memes because I don't want to fill the page with question and answers. If I'm doing a regular post then I don't use a jump :)
I don't even know how to do this...
