The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Because my husband is in the military we move a lot.  I was reflecting on how difficult it is to make new friends at each place and how tired I am of settling for fake relationships with the wives of his co-workers.  Everyone needs some friends of their own right?
So I'm wondering how do each of you meet new people and start new friendships in the real world?

My family's from Pakistan and we have a term for women like these military wives you speak of — "chunee begums," which is basically "poser ladies." Be real to yourself and others by just finding a hobby to partake in! Almost all of my hometown friends play tennis — it's fun, you can learn it at any age and it's a great way to meet people. If sports isn't your thing, just check out your local paper or Google search events going on in your town to find something you enjoy doing. Chances are you'll meet people w/ similar interests and personalities at these events.
Most of my friends since graduating college are from grad school or work, or people I met in my last job and remain friends with because of our interest in refugees, or who have otherwise similar interests as me.

I've met people through running, surfing or snowboarding, at a local art center I'm on the board of, or through the shelter I volunteer at.

Friends come from your interests, it is hard to befriend people who are interested in ....shopping when I have no interest in wasting my free time that way. Do things you like and find your friends at those activities.
Hello! I can understand how you feel. If I was you, go out and do things that you enjoy. That's where you'll make friends and ones that you can relate to. The more you go out, the more you'll make friends to connect with. Why not try some of the classes on base? There's arts & crafts, a gym, and other places you can go to enjoy yourself and meet friends along the way. =)
i have no idea :[ after you finish school, it's hard. i usually meet up with people i met online or do online meetups irl
