The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I'm curious to know about the experiences of anyone where blogging has helped them achieve a concrete non-blogging/social networking goal, particularly related to charitable or fundraising goals.

When I was based in China, I used my blog to ask people to send me modern English language books for my students, who couldn't access them. I was actually quite prepared for no response (espcially as at the time, I was blocked from many sites, like 20sb that would've helped me publicize my goal), but was delighted to recieve books from China, the US, Canada and the UK. It made a real difference to my students, many of whom were able to own their first ever English language book.

Now I'm looking at setting up a blog for a local charity, the Worthing Samaritans (a UK based charity that offers non judgemental listening support for people in emotional crisis), which I hope will raise the profile of the charity and perhaps even be a fundraising platform.
