How to keep your domain?

Hey guys, I am currently hosted by siteground, but i am in the midst of debating whether to just keep my URL without any web hosting services - how would I go about that, if I do that?

Have the domain registered to you individually through a site like GoDaddy.

But check to see if you already have the domain registered to you through Siteground.* If you do, then all you should have to do is renew the domain registration and not the hosting plan. Or, you can transfer your domain registration elsewhere if you'd prefer.

*If you currently do not have your domain registered to you and if it is currently registered to Siteground as part of a "free domain registry with hosting services" the likelihood of you obtaining ownership becomes harder -- it would likely get auctioned off when you don't renew with them.
