Wow, that's a strange thing to give up! Check out my blog to see what I'm giving up for Lent! It's nothing as severe as a relationship, but it's still a pretty big deal (for me).
Well yes i decided to give relationship a break for the next 40days.It work easily when you have two busy people who hardly have time for each other pretty easy. When your life is all about work at least for the season.
i guess it just seems sort of strange to give up a relationship because people usually give up bad habits or guilty indulgences.... but you may be onto something here... we could start giving up on our irritating relatives for 40 days-my boyfriend's parents spring to mind. what a shame im protestant.
lmao. i was sat watching the BF teach his swimming clinic last night wondering why the hell so many parents had black smudges on their foreheads... then it dawned on me that it was ash wednesday. I felt like such an idiot- especially since I was raised in an episcopal school where they forced us to wear it the entire day, and i always thought it was so ridiculous. (not to mention, i hated the fact that it ruined my makeup). Needless to say, I don't honor lent so whenever anyone's asked, I keep saying "i gave up lent, for lent." I've had some rather disapproving looks.
last year I gave up myspace and facebook and when I came back myspace was a total Ghost town! lol! Everyone switched to facebook in those 40 days!
As an adult, I feel like I should start giving up important things, but I'll probably just stop eating peanut m&ms.

Giving up a relationship sort of reminds me of that movie "40 days and 40 nights."
i gave up giving things up for lent for lent.
Thats genius lol
I do not participate in religious tradition of any kind, but giving up a relationship seems to me would mean it really isn't that important. Unless of course you are in a long distance relationship like i am and don't see you so very often anyway. That would be lent cheating wouldn't it? Like giving up a good you rarely eat.
Well to be honest it would make more sense if it was long distance we work in the same city but at this time of the year we hardly see each other. To answer your next question no it would not be lent cheating. lol
I gave up watching TV online for lent. Sounds silly - but once I start watching one episode on surfthechannel, it's 4 hours later and I've watched half a season!
The sad part is I am a Catholic and completely forgot yesterday was Ash Wednesday until like 30 minutes before Mass started. I gave up sweets this year so I can pretty much guarantee some epic baking come Easter.
