I have to say I have a really hard time getting past blogs that are cluttered, messy and just plain ugly. I need something simple to read, and it must be visually appealing.
If a blog is hard to follow, or hard on the eyes, I just move on... and don't follow (sorry fellow-bloggers!) I could be missing some good content... but I do this with books too... my eyes need some candy while my brain is fed with good reads.
It's all good, I clicked on your blog and wanted to read! It's simple and readable! Sometimes I click on blogs and it's just like, I'm sorry I tried, but I must look away from the screen and try to exit ASAP.
My newest post links to your blog, actually. It's shameless promo until I get around to writing your guest post. I will, I swear it's coming!!! I have a whole bunch of crap that I'm doing- yours is next!
I'm the same way! i have visual adhd lol if theres too many places my eyes can go I have to exit! My blog is simple and to the point. Check it out if you would like: www.cupcakescaviar.blogspot.com
I totally agree with you. I don't like long paragraphs or cluttered sidebars. Also, if I can't tell where the post starts or ends, I don't waste my time on a blog.
Having pictures is nice, but not necessary for me. I like to read the writing. But the blog definitely has to be easy on the eyes.
I'm not on the look out of grammatical errors, but if there is one (that's totally obvious) it usually interrupts the flow of my reading, and that can get annoying.
I don't mind slang or broken english if I can understand what the blogger is talking about. I think it's a good thing to type like you talk because then you really are using your blogging voice.
