The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I have to say I have a really hard time getting past blogs that are cluttered, messy and just plain ugly. I need something simple to read, and it must be visually appealing.

If a blog is hard to follow, or hard on the eyes, I just move on... and don't follow (sorry fellow-bloggers!)
I could be missing some good content... but I do this with books too... my eyes need some candy while my brain is fed with good reads.

Does anyone else do this??

I totally am the same way! I like clean and simple. I also, on the inside, want to do lots and lots of colors but I end up just doing something very simple and classic with mine. I can never break that pattern!
I would LOVE your opinions on my blog.

I am of the same mind that a blog needs to be clean and eye-catching.
The majority of blogs these days are read via RSS feed in Google Reader...where every blog looks the same.

Clean, simple, problem solved.
I disagree, I always go to the blogs site, I need the eye candy.
I agree, I hate going to websites (not just blogs) that are completely unaesthetic... like WHY become a web designer if the taste is clearly questionable.

I hope my blog passes the test >/body>
As some have mentioned, no pictures = me leaving. I don't like huge blocks of text or ten-million ads cluttering everything up.
Yes. I try to read a bit of it first - -there are quite a few talented blogs that simply don't care about design. But if the design is HORRID and the words are MEDIOCRE I move on as well ;)
Design is, in my opinion, one of the most important things about a blog. If your blog isn't easy to navigate or is simply unappealing to look at, no one is going to want to read it. On the other hand, when the layout is nice I could spend hours browsing someones blog if their content is interesting, because it feels more hospitable.

It seems ridiculous because it's a webpage, but making your blog feel welcoming has big affect on your visitors. Those little details count for a lot.
I am the same way. I know this sounds dumb, but sometimes if the posts are too long and I just don't bother. I need something to get straight to the point as well.
