The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I just recently wrote a post about how listening to an Alanis Morrisette song on the radio made me feel like an ancient lady all of a sudden....and am wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

Please let me know I'm not alone!  What makes you feel 'old'?

Quite frankly, I don't remember much from the 80's except for Nintendo! Zelda and Mario were my life! Also, scrunchies.

This trip down memory lane is making me feel much better. :)
Oooo how about slap bracelets?! And Slush puppies?! And roller skating?! And chinese finger traps?! And those shows on Nickelodeon: Salute Your Shorts and Heyyy, Dude! Hahha. Okay, so those were more the 90s, but I was old enough then to very much remember the episodes and characters.

Also, Zelda is still my life. I have the game on Wii :)

By the way, did anyone have a water bed??? LOL. Or that doll named Cricket who talked via a cassette recorder hidden in her overalls?
I'm fairly positive the cottage cheese in my butt makes me feel ancient.
I'm a 27 year old college sophomore -- I'm surrounded by people who can't drink leagally, who don't get Chris Farely references, Cowbell jokes, have never heard of bands like sublime, and think they know everything (Hey didn't we all when we were 18 & 19 years old?).

My Jaw hit the floor when I was stuck in class with someone rambling on and I leaned over to the girl next to me and go "She better wrap it up, B" and she gave me a blank stare. "Dave Chappell" I said,

"Who?"

Hey, At least I can drink vodka that doesn't come out of a plastic bottle....
How on earth do these kids not know who Dave Chappelle is?! His show was totally not on in my youth, he was still on TV the year I graduated from college (then South Africa collapse, etc etc...) which was only six years ago!

My theory - I think your classmate is just a lame kid who wasn't 'allowed' to watch Dave Chappelle.

Also, kudos for the reference to Oregon Trail!! For kids who don't know the pixelated journey from East to West, or what it's like to have all your oxen get dystentery....well....that's just not right.
Loving this thread right now, because honestly, at 27, being on 20SB can make you feel damn old!!! Soon I'll get kicked out and have to go to 30SB, if that even exists. SIGH.

I would add that I saw Neil Diamond in concert once, and even though I felt like a spring chicken at the actual show, telling my friends that I saw Neil Diamond and seeing their bewildered faces was definitely an "I feel really old" moment. Ugh.
I feel old when I realize my youngest sister is 20. She's still supposed to be 12.

I feel old when I talk to these people who have No idea what Oregon Trail is. Who are not excellent marksmen thanks to Duck Hunt. When I shot a real gun for the second time I was with a group of people. The guy I was paired up with was only a little younger than me I thought. He was shocked by my mad skills since I had told him I had only shot a gun once before and it was only 2 shots. I attributed it to duck hunt. I had to explain to him what I was talking about. LAME.

I feel old when I realize my husband and I have been together for 10 Years. TEN! We got together at 16, but still!

I feel old when I realize my son is SIX. I wasn't a teenage mom! I had him at 20, which seems young to me, but at the same time, I was already a 'grown up' out on my own.

I feel old when I talk to older women and realize I have more in common with them than with the 22 year old who is closer in age to me.

I feel old when I see a girl I used to babysit and helped potty train who is now in High School.

I feel old for lots of reasons nowadays.
