The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I need your help. One of the things on my life list is that I would watch 10 independent films within the next year. I need suggestions. What independent films do you guys like? Did a particular one really speak to you? Are there any aspiring film makers out there? Because I would totally watch your stuff.

Thanks for the help! Oh, and Happy New Year!

Okay so I know some of these are already down here, but here are my top choices anyway:

Broken English

Lars and the Real Girl (particularly moving)

Love Me if You Dare (awesome cinematography) (French)

Aimee & Jaguar (German)

I've Loved You So Long (French, if I remember that right)

The Bumblebee Flies Anyway

The Princess and the Warrior (German)

All I Want

Gas Food Lodging (an oldie, but a goodie)

King of California

Saving Grace

Chalk (will make you appreciate your high school teachers so much more)

200 Cigarettes

There are so much more, but my brain is tired from studying. Enjoy!
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is pretty fantastic.
I think this got a bigger following later but was pretty ignored/low budget when it came out -- but contained big name stars before their big time: Dermott Mulroney, Laura Flynn Boyle, Will Smith, Ricki Lake, Sean Astin, Alyssa Milano, etc.

"Where the Day Takes You" - Coming from a home/area in Los Angeles rampant with drug problems and kids escaping their home lives, it really was a good story. I hearted it.
Lars & the Real Girl = awesome, and who doesn't like to watch Ryan Gosling?

Another totally tear-jerking one with Gerard Butler before he was big? "Dear Frankie"
OMG, I TOTALLY forgot about Dear Frankie...I freakin LOVE that film!

Now I want to go out and rent it and the video store is closed :( Well, there's always tomorrow...
omgosh, didn't it just tug every heart string!?!? <3 Youre the first person I know whose even HEARD of it, let alone seen it!
Just remembered this one. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. So sad, but I swear you'll be a changed person after you watch it.
I love indie flicks, and there have been some on here that I'm itching to check out. One that I haven't seen mentioned that I really liked was My Sassy Girl... with Jesse Bradford and Elisha Cuthbert. I think it's a remake of a Korean movie, but I could be wrong. It's really good, though.
