Le Blog Pet Peeves
I'm not sure if there's a similar thread somewhere but I feel it's a darn popular one and I felt like ranting. There have been some blogs that look interesting at first glance but then you notice other stuff. Annoying stuff. Like small font size. Will I be right in saying that most of us use a widescreen monitor nowadays? It's not that hard to increase your font size when you're blogging.
It's an eyesore when you need to squint or come close to your screen so that you can read a blog post! It's very very annoying.
I have more pet peeves but small fonts are turning me off from reading or subscribing a/to a blog.
Does it bug you too?

I don't like small fonts either. :( Or light colored fonts on light colored blogs. It hurts my eyes. v.v

Same here. Dark backgrounds hurt my eyes. And sometimes I use the hubster's pc and the resolution is much larger and the color schemes change...don't know if it's his pc but my eyes take the brunt...

My major peeve has got to be blogs with overflowing ads. Top, bottom, side, center. I mean come on, must one flood one's page with nonsense like that? I've come across gazillions of blogs that got drowned by ads and I actually had to find my way to locate where their posts are. Seriously, not exaggerating. Fine, they want to make money, but they just get to the point where it's ridiculous. I really don't see the point of them posting up entries anymore since their ads take all the attention. Might as well create a blog/page just for ads.
2. Fancy background overkill. Too much glitter/too many patterns or graphics/too many flash apps or widgets. Those stuff can get so loud, they just scream LOOK AT ME I'M SO GLAMOROUS or something right in your face. They cause a blog to load really slow too.
3. Auto background music. I love music, but I click on blogs to read posts, not to listen to Billboard Top 40 or something. I have my own player, thank you very much.
4. Messy nav/sidebars. I hate having the need to keep finding where certain links are to click through. I like blogs that are neatly organised.
5. Crazy fonts. You know when people say "You have a doctor's handwriting."? That's what I mean. Simple and readable fonts are the best. Anything else that's super fancy puts me off right away, even if the entry is a really good one. I don't want to spend one whole day decoding words. (Also, uber small fonts. What the hell, right?)
6. Background-font colour contrast. I'm ok with dark backgrounds and vice versa, but make sure everything is clear. If I have to squint, I'll just close the tab.
My two cents. Didn't mean to come off bitchy, I'm just anal that way.
