The Bloggers With The Most To Say

As pitiful as it may seem, one of my greatest joys in life is watching TV on DVD. When I finish an entire series or season, I feel this odd sense of accomplishment--even though all I've really done is spend hours doing nothing.

I guess my taste is pretty diverse--I've watched most of the shows that are on HBO and Showtime (past and present) as well as Battlestar Galactica, House, Gossip Girl, Numbers, Medium, Mad Men, 30 Rock, and a ton of British shows (Skins, The Office, Spaced, Gavin and Stacey, Peep Show, The Mighty Boosh, Doctor Who, The Black Adder, etc.) Right now I'm trying to get into the Larry Sanders Show and last night I watched Bones for the first time and thought it showed some promise.

It's the beginning of summer, so almost everything that premiered in the fall has wrapped up for the season. I have at least 3 months to obsess over a couple of new shows.

Do you have any suggestions?

(When I ask people this, I usually get How I Met Your Mother, The Wire, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. So other than those shows.)

Thanks!

Weirdly, I just saw Sex and the City 2 without ever watching a single episode of the show or the first movie. Renting the series might clarify a few things...
Samantha Who was another good one! I saw most it but missed the last half... I need to watch the rest of the series!
Did you ever try watching Lost? Now that it's over, you could watch all six seasons before the summer is over. It's addicting.
For some reason I didn't even think about Lost, but you're right, it's the perfect show to devote an entire summer to now that it's over. I feel like I'm the only non-Amish person in the country who has never watched this show.
That was going to be my suggestion. Power through it and you'll probably be dazed and confused, but captivated. Not to mention in love with several characters.
I've been meaning to check out Party Down. I think I heard that Steve Guttenberg was on one episode, which I hope means that he's making a comeback.
When does weeds start? I've heard it's so good, I want to watch it!
Weeds is one of my favorite shows! i forgot about it, oops. I love weeds... although I almost always want to smoke after. But whatever.
Pushing Daises - it was short lived, but both seasons are on DVD. It was a great show, with a great blend of mystery and fantasy with a touch of cute romance. Unfortunately it was too good for its time and the Writer's Strike is to blame for its pre-mature cancellation, as it cut the first season short and when it returned the next fall, ABC did little to no marketing for it, despite having great reviews and even nominated for a few Emmy's.

Freaks and Geeks - one of the best high school drama shows ever made. All 18 episodes are on DVD, as it was canceled after the first season. It was ahead of its time and got canceled due to poor ratings as NBC couldn't make up what night they wanted it to air on.

We're currently finishing up Entourage before the new season starts, but you mentioned you already watch what's on HBO so I'm sure you've seen it... same with True Blood - have you been watching that one? New season starts in less than 2 weeks (we just subscribed to HBO for the summer today), so you could easily get caught up on the first 2 seasons before it starts.

If you have Netflix, they have every season of X-Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer up on Instant Watch - I know a lot of people that have been watching those.

I also started watching all 3 seasons of Kyle XY - it's a teen sci-fi drama that aired for a few years on ABC Family. I'm on episode 6, it's pretty good so far!

Heroes is another one that recently got canceled - I stopped watching halfway through the 3rd season due to being busy the nights it aired, but the first season was VERY good!
Love Pushing Daisies and Freaks and Geeks. And True Blood is one of the few shows that I actually watch while it's airing instead of waiting for the season to end so I can watch every episode in one or two huge chunks on DVD.

I gave up on Heroes after the 2nd season.

I think I'll try Entourage. Thanks Ray J.
np!

Also, I keep hearing Leverage (airs summers on TNT) is pretty good - I think it's starting the 3rd or 4th season soon... I keep forgetting to watch it though, but everyone I know that watches it tells me it's really good!
I'm a big fan of Leverage, it has a really great cast and good wit. Not to mention, it's a heist movie every week!
