I have been blogging for some time now (2 years) and I cannot seem to get over 20 followers. In fact this weekend while out of town I did not get the chance to see if by some miracle there were some newbies on my blog, so this morning I log in and low and behold I LOST ONE!
I was at 19 now its 18....
I mean what the hell is that?
Maybe I am to much for some people. They can't seem to handle me.
QUESTION HERE IS: Does it get you angry and/or sad losing a follower(s)?
It gets me angry not losing one but the fact that I cannot make that number go above the 19 mark. What a shame!
Hehehe...I liked your blog.
Now you are even closer to 100...according to most here though #'s are not important. Readers are. So even better I am a reader and follower. Damn I kick ass!
I just got my first follower today, kind of exciting! I wouldn't be upset about losing followers, maybe they've changed what they enjoy reading, or maybe they just don't have time to read anymore. Maybe they just aren't as interested in what you're writing? Everyone is different, and people's preferences change, so I wouldn't take it too personally.
I love my followers, but the number of them doesn't matter that much to me. I know that I read some blogs that I'm not following, so the number I have is something I don't take that seriously..
Hey man don't blame me. Blame your excessive usage of the word vagina. I don't mind that word one bit in fact i'm thinking of naming my next pet (whatever that may be) Vagina Mangina. Yes 2 first names.
Cheer up buck theres always more where that came from. I just started following that shit you call a blog. Joking again with the "shit you call"....
I don't know if people get my humor sometimes. I will just stop now.
It's not nice when people decide to not follow anymore....the only reason I can think of is they are cleaning up their desktop or closing their account? Anyway I have just stopped by your blog...great posts and now I am following :)
Don't let it get you down...just keep writing and the followers will come - well thats what I keep telling myself anyway
I don't get riled up about losing followers since, like most of us, I blog for myself (specifically I blog so that I can remember parts of my life later on).
The only case in which I am affected is if I establish a friendship, invest time reading and participating on their blogs, and they drop me like a dead weight. Or they only contact me when they need something, since I'm a web developer.
Losing followers is fine, for me. Losing friends is what makes me sad.
I just recently removed the "follower" thing on my blog. I dont want to worry about if people are liking or disliking what I have to say...I want to write what I want to write.
May I add my two sense, I hope you don't mind. I think that people blog for many different reasons, or a combination of some. Some people blog for the love of writing and some people blog in order to create some web presence and thus earn some money from it. In my case I blog for a combination of both.
I love writing, I love creating stories, love sharing my ideas...I can write all day long. (It's the teacher in me :)) I've only just started blogging and while I started it just for fun, I realized the potential to make money was there. Why not make money from something that I love?
In order to do this I HAVE to create a huge following. Some people argue that it takes away from my blog actually being read and it's ALL about the numbers, however, I've come to realize that having your blog read isn't about the numbers at all...you can have 10 followers and it doesn't guarantee your blog is going to be read. You have to reciprocate...you read, I'll read. You comment, I'll comment. While I have gained over 200 followers in just under one month...I've also gained tons of comments. While many of my comments are just along the lines of "I'm following you back." A lot of them are actual comments on my post. I also receive a lot of email a day as my email is open for all to see. And it is genuine email...asking how to do something, asking about my Spotlight position etc.
The thing I am trying to point out here is reciprocation. If someone asks for some advice, if someone takes the time to respond to my post in a real way, I WILL always return the favour. I will reply with a thank you note...and also visit there own blog. It's a give and take...and that's the thing that I find many people missing out on.
I also follow everyone back. If you take the time to follow me, because there is something in my blog that you like, the least I can do is return the favour.
If you want to gain followers and keep them...I think its really important that you show you have something to offer. Either it be with comments, good posts etc. To gain followers, try the Blog Hops. You can find many on my blog.
This is just my opinion...I hope I've added something useful to it.
