The Bloggers With The Most To Say

My favorite time of year is coming... Chapters' buy 3 books get the 4th free!
In celebration, I've started making a list of books that I really want to buy/read. I plan on taking full advantage of my discount & the free book thing... There is no better time of year to buy books, seriously. So far, it's a list that's growing REALLY fast and it's mostly recommendations from coworkers:

1. The Reader (the book that inspired the movie)
2. Always Looking Up- Michael J. Fox (I really want to start getting into biographies. I've read a few in the past & loved them... and his looks amazing)
3. For One More Day- Mitch Albom
4. Handle with Care- Jodi Picoult
5. Bright Shiny Morning- James Frey
6. Something Borrowed- Emily Giffin
7. Thousand Splendid Suns
8. Love in the Time of Cholera
9. Book of Negroes- Lawrence Hill
10. Five People You Meet in Heaven- Mitch Albom
11. Lucky- Alice Sebold
12. Perfect Fifths- Megan McCafferty

My goal for 2009 is to read at least 50 books & so far I've been doing really well. Let's see how many I can read this summer! Any suggestions?

Happy Reading! I'm a huge book person and just took advantage of Borders by 2 get one free sale. Hooray!
Good In Bed - Jennifer Weiner
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers
Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister - Gregory Maguire

Okay, so none of these are recent releases, haha, but I love those books :)
Thanks! I'm going to check out the books & add them to my list :)
I've been meaning to read a heartbreaking work of staggering genius but I forgot about it... I need to write that one down. Thanks for reminding me! haha
Your goal is to read 50 books this year? Seriously? That's like a book a week!

Where in the world do you find the time to do that? I'm lucky if I could find the time to finish 1 book a year!

Although I'm not a huge reader, so that may have something to do with it.
Its pretty hard haha but it was my attempt at a new years resolution that is more possible than lots of other ones people try. I just read when I'm on the bus, on break at work, before falling asleep... That kind of thing :)
I have a recomendation for you, not sure what your taste in books are, but...

"The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch

He was a professor of mine and the most influential man I have ever met. He died of cancer not long ago. You can read more about what his book entails at www.thelastlecture.com
thanks! I'll def check it out
Courage in Patience - Beth Fehlbaum
Angry Black White Boy - Adam Mansbach
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert M. Pirsig
Eat Pray Love - Elizabeth Gilbert
A Spy in the House of Love - Anais Nin
Notes from the Underground - Fyoder Dostoevsky
The Fuck-up - Arthur Nersesian
I had Eat Pray Love on my list originally but a couple people told me it wasn't as good as they'd heard... So I wasn't sure- you liked it though?
I had to look and see what Chapters was. I could live n a bookstore and be happy.

I really liked A Thousand Splendid Suns and may still have it around here somewhere, we should probably start a book exchange.

Love in the Time of Cholera
I also have and I do recommend it, it's a quicker read than his other work. I liked Kafka on the Shore but it's not for everyone. I See You Everywhere was decent.

I promise myself every time I have a break I'll read some classic I missed along the way. I had a couple weeks before summer term so I did A la Recherche Du Temps Perdu and Middlemarch. Both good depending on what you like to read. During the terms I can't really read books that require my total undivided attention.
