The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I've been blogging for several years now. About eight months ago I started a new blog that I felt was more true to myself. I can't get readers now for some reason. I like readers and comments because then I get to connect with other people which is one of the reasons I blog.

I comment and follow several other blogs but none of them ever comment back. I'm missing that connection with other bloggers that I had with my first blog.

Any tips for upping traffic to my blog?

Have you let your old readers know you move? I lost a decent number of followers and readers when I moved from blogging anonymously at the blog I started on to blogging under my real name, and I think that's just because most people don't initally make the jump.

I think my advice to you (and this is more about building some connections and relationships than getting numbers) is to just continue leaving comments on blogs you identify with and for people you find inspiring or funny or whatever it is that makes you connect. It takes time to build those relationships, but I've found that the more you put into it, the more you get back.

Good luck! :) (And I'm going to check you out now, hehe...)
I'm a new blogger, and I'm also trying to connect with the blogging community, but without much luck yet. Part of my problem is that I have searched and searched, and cannot find ANYONE who blogs about the same thing I do (and it's not that far-fetched)! I, of course, would like to get readers, but I also really love reading other blogs, and my purpose for blogging was to be able to identify with others like me, and to interact with them in the online community. I can't believe no one else in my boat is talking. So in the mean time, I'm reading anything that I find interesting in general, while trying to get the word out about mine. A seasoned blogger friend of mine reminded me that it takes time. Her over-500 followers happened over several years of writing. Good luck, and I'll come check you out, too!
I've been suffering about the same since October 2009.
I had a blog which seemed to be different from others, I had like 100 followers and although they didn't all comment, I got lots of feedback. I posted something I shouldn't have and I got myself in a huge problem, so I ended up changing URL and I wasn't able to tell my readers because I didn't want the person I had the problem with to find my new blog.
I've been suffering some colateral damage since then, and the blogosphere is so crowded that now it's difficult to have followers, especially the kind I used to have. I feel like people nowadays 'follow in order to be followed' and that makes me very upset.
I'm sorry you are having a hard time, I hope things get better for you.
Yea, when I first started blogging it seemed like everyone was new to it and eager to connect and comment on each others blogs. Now its so crowded that support for other peoples blogs have seemed to dwindle. Some of the blogs that I used to follow now have upwards of 500 followers and get 20-30 comments on each post. That makes it a bit hard for them to show all of their followers the same courtesy by reading and commenting on their blogs too. I try to steer clear of 'popular' overcrowded blogs now.
Join some blogging communities. I love this one and I am also a part of blogfrog. I hope you get to build your community back up, that's a bummer. (I think some people are a part of blogher too but it kind of confuses me.)
You should let your old readers know that you moved, and that they need to resubscribed.

As for commenting on blogs, make sure you really do comment on blogs you love. As far as I know, many in 20sb will usually comment back if they can relate to what you write. There's even a group for people who love to comment and be commented. It's a start.
