Modern Girl has arrived... My first 20sb blog post!

I suppose, since I'm new to 20sb, that I should confess a little to the community about what makes me tick, so here goes:

-I believe in knowing what you're good at and being proud of it (though I try to draw the line between semi-shameless self-promotion and outright "douche-worthy" cockiness). On that note, I am a pretty damned good singer, public speaker, poet, decorator, friend, writer, and photographer.

-I also believe in knowing exactly what you're not-so-good at without being ashamed of it; therefore, I am a lousy cook, a horrible checkbook balancer, a crazy driver, and an often-selfishly-absent daughter.

-I lovelovelove: men, makeup, my iPhone, merlot, playing games from spades to Scrabble, my dwarf bunny rabbit Bunchkin, and my friends and family.

-I listen to: Sarah McGlachlan, classic rock, a little rap (mostly Eminem and jams from the West Coast heyday), Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty, Dave, U2, 90's alt-rock, and a little Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald.

-I watch: The Big Bang Theory, House, Two and a Half Men, The Golden Girls, Hell's Kitchen and Iron Chef America.

-I want to: overcome my issues, trek accross Europe, find a career I actually like, smoke up in Amsterdam, record an album (even if no one hears it but me), visit Hawaii, fall madly in love, cruise Alaska, and learn to cook and play guitar.

-I am: strong, intelligent, funny, independent, caring, just a little selfish sometimes, and a tiny bit lost.

-I am not: unhappy, angry, self-centered, crude, rude, or high-maintenance.

-I ask: "What makes you tick?"
