The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Ah, what a special time in all our lives. The peak of the awkward phase - both physically and socially.

Middle school, I'm speaking of you.

At the time, I'm sure every little drama seemed dire. Now, there are only a few flagship foibles forever lodged in my memory.

I was a pretty tame kid (which has worked to my advantage in the long run, as my mom still thinks I'm the reserved child in the family ...) so instances that stick out in my mind are pretty run-of-the-mill.

The story that led me to pose this question, for example (which you can read here if you feel so inclined) involves me bawling in the middle of a classroom full of my 13-year-old peers.

What about you? Best (or worst I suppose) memory of your most embarrassing middle school moment?

Oh dear. I could go on forever. But I'll go with the two main ones. Being called Earthquake every time I moved (looking back, I wasn't much bigger than the other kids), and having the popular girls spit on my dress at grad because they didn't like that everyone else liked me.
I bawled my eyes out in front of my classmates too! The worst is that it was all due to being rejected by a boy I thought I liked and the betrayal of a friend; these two issues are the worst possible things that can happen to you in middle school, and they happened at the same time.

I also remember that simply getting up to walk to the trash can in the cafeteria made you feel as if you were walking in a mine field. Once false/weird move and you were done for.
I once said 'orgasm' instead of 'organism' when I volunteered to read in Science class. First and last time I ever read out loud.

That wasn't embarrassing (or brought up every year as a "Hey, remember when Sessilee said...") or anything.
Haahahah, classic!

On a sort of related note, I once asked my Grandma what "dick" meant. I was like 7. That weant well ...
When I was in 8th grade I felt sick and was heading to the bathroom but I threw up in the hall on the way. Nobody was even around me but I was still soooo embarrassed.
I was pretty much tortured all through middle school. I was made fun of everyday for no reason except that I was the quiet kid.

One thing that sticks out was in 7th grade I had to give a speech. The main kid that made fun of me everyday was in my class and he of course was laughing at me the entire time. I've never been good at public speaking, but that day I just lost it and started crying half way through my speech.
Ha -sounds all too familiar! At least you attempted your speech!! I refused to sing in front of my 7th grade history class so didn't have to present, but ended up crying anyway :)
I was at a pool party with my best friend at a guy's house who we both were crushing on really hard. He was a year older than us, and we were just elated to be invited to his party. He was in high school and we were not.
Anyway, I started talking to another boy, and of course I was instantly smitten. My 13 year old heart could hardly stand it. We were just standing in one corner of the (above ground) pool. So everyone else has gone inside but me and this guy and we finally decided to get out. Then I felt it, my bathing suit bottoms ripped. They had gotten hung on a bolt or something. So I climbed out of the pool super quick, and he was all like nice rear end. I was mortified. So I frantically search for my towel only to find that my best friend had grabbed mine and hers. So I just sat down on the bench and refused to get up until he found my best friend and she brought me a friggin towel.
ohh.. where do I begin? lol. actually it was pretty difficult to embarrass me back then since it was a pretty regular occurence. people went out of their way to humiliate me. lol.

The one that sticks out the most in my mind though, was back in 6th grade... I was one of the first girls in my year to wear heels, and to wear mini-skirts with heels. We were playing 4-square during recess and as I ran backwards (in my heels and miniskirt) to catch a cherry bomb, one of the most popular guys in our year was diving to catch a pass in football. I ran backwards, tripped over him, and landed square on top of him in a total state of shock. the entire grade saw what happened, and they all saw a wonderful flash of my cotton knickers. He looked completely disgusted while I was entirely mortified. To this day, I still can't look at him without going beetroot red... and he's not even attractive anymore! lol.
My list never ends... but the 2 worst ones were in 7th grade- I went to a catholic school and we wore skirts. The boy who sat next to me in class pulled my chair out as I went to sit down and I fell onto the floor and everyone saw my undies! The entire class was laughing for what seemed like forever! It hurt so bad I had to hold back the tears and pretend I was laughing with them, when really I was ssooooo embarrassed and upset. =O
The other was also in 7th grade... I had my first boyfriend, Marty, and when a rumor went around that I was only dating him for a Valentines day gift, he broke up with me and passed around a note in class that read "Rachel has hairy boobs." I never even showed him, or anyone for that matter, any private part of mine! But I am 100% Italian, so.... ya know, and I developed a complex and that kept me from showing my boobs to any guy for a long time! Haha... oh the joys of growing up.
Ah, middle school...

In seventh grade, I was hanging out outside with my friends after lunch on the track field. I bent down to tie my shoe, and apparently stepped in and sat on a big pile of dog poop.

I went to the bathroom to try and scrub it off before class, but it wasn't going anywhere and the smell was still AWFUL. Middle school is bad enough, but middle school with crap smeared all over your butt and smelling up the room? That's basically a death wish.

So that was the first time I ever skipped class. I most definitely spent the rest of the afternoon in the bathroom.
i was painfully shy, so i'm just going to have to say that every single minute of middle school was embarrassing. :S
