The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So...it finally caught up to me. I was laid off last night but I'm taking it as a sign that I should step up my freelancing. I would love to really make a career out of it, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to the best way to start! I've joined eLance and places like that, but it seems that you'll always be outbid by someone willing to work for very little.

Can anyone shed some light or give me a few tips? If you don't, I'll probably starve...no biggie ;) hehe

Boo...I'm sorry!

I'll send you positive vibes :) :) :)

Oh and no I don't have any tips...sorry! IN fact, I believe I could use some myself. Tips...anyone!?!??!
it sucks to be laid off and I rally hope you are able to make ends meet and find something quickly.

Try to see it as a positive. Try to find something better or make client contacts to freelance. A friend of mine got laid off in September and started her own business and is now making what she use to at her 8-5 job but works from her house!
Thanks! Yeah, I'm trying to see it as a chance to do something different and spur me towards what I've been thinking about for a long time. Seems to be one of those fields that doesn't have a hard and true way of breaking in, which is good. I'll make up my own way in!
Aw, now I feel wicked bad for complaining about having two jobs yet no money. I'm sorry hun!!

I don't have any tips really especially 'cause I've only done one freelancing assignment in my life, but if you're going to be a "freelancer," maybe seek a retail job or something like that to fall back on.
lol! Oh I'd be complaining too, no worries! Money isn't so much the issue as stability, but I'll definitely have a 'day job' to keep the bills paid until I know what I'm doing.
I have written a post entitled www.jackostain.blogspot.com)">Tips to help you survive redundancy:.

I am really sorry and I hope that something come your way. Soon

I've mentioned this in another post, but check out BrazenCareerist.com

You may be able to network with someone looking to hire a freelance writer?
Losing your job blows. I know because I lost mine about 3 weeks ago. I didn't think about going into free lance until I saw your post. I know there are several books you could check out if you wanted to that have a lot of information on free lancing. There are also so many blogs that have tips and such.

What were you doing before you were laid off? If you don't mind me asking.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! Seems everyone is getting hit by it now, eh?

I was doing web content and SEO stuff, so I'm now looking for positions that point me more towards copywriting. The freelancing is something I want to develop so when I do lose my job I don't have to worry so much about where the money will be coming from. Lots of income streams and all that.

How are you coping? Finding anything out there?
