Thanks to the help of Conrad Hees, I bought my own domain name and started my new blog, The PR Practitioner
While it's mostly guided towards PR and Communication professionals, anyone can read and comment. Since I'm extremely new to having my own domain and blog, please let me know how I can improve and guide me towards any old posts for first time domain owners....I was limited to my options with wordpress and I'm free to do whatever I want - so tricks and tricks are appreciated.
Thanks for the shout out Brian! I'm sure you'll do great on your new blog.
As far as tricks of the trade there aren't really too many, just get out there and create accounts on a few of the big social networking and bookmarking sites......Stumble Upon, twitter, Delicious, etc.
Network alot...this can be the hardest part. Aim to build relationships with mid-level bloggers (around 300-1000 subscribers) and then you will move up to networking with the big guys, and it works like a ladder.
When you are writing a blog on a focused topic, it can be frustrating because of the competition, so just stay consistent.
My biggest advice is to think of the direction you want to take your blog, and then create your posts and everything around that. Like for instance, do you want to build a business with your blog? create a reputation? Create leads for your consulting business? Make affiliate income? Decide ahead of time what you want to do and then follow through. This will give you a focused approach, which is always more successful.
I really like your writing style, and I think you'll do great. and the site looks really good too!
