Which is smart, letting the reader know what she is getting herself into. I think your blog is well written, and congratulations on your adoption journey! Almost there! Kudos to you! I also read about the little hearts, they do look like perfect valentines day gifts.
As for the design itself: it is very modern and clean, but has a lot of personality that is uniquely yours. I would say the homepage is a little cluttered. You have the three themes on the first banner, and then you create 3 more banners, which was a little confusing. I figured it out, from a user perspective it was a little confusing/redundant to scroll down to get to each section of your blog wheres you could just link the three topic names on the first part. But I am not a designer, so whatever.
Overall I think your blog is really well made and that you have some great stuff. Your photography blows mine out of the water. Keep up the good work.

Dali, thank you so much for your feedback. I actually have a friend that designed it for me, so I am right there with you! I do see what you mean about it being a little cluttered. Thank you for being honest! I appreciate all your sweet words and suggestions, I will take them to heart!

Permalink Reply by Amie C on February 15, 2012 at 11:32am Hi Lidy,
You have a gorgeous blog!! I love the about page & the arrow graphics in the navigation. I can recognize the theme of your blog right away, the descriptions give a good idea what it's about. Your blog is similar to mine--photography, diy, thrift finds, so i'm following you now :)
oh something I noticed--the text below the headlines, for example the 'About bonjour and hello.......' on the about page seems like it should be pushed up a bit, it's overlaying onto the content box. Unless that's intentional!
Permalink Reply by Lidy D. on March 15, 2012 at 4:00pm Hey Amie! Thanks so much for your feedback! I will have to check out the headlines, I actually haven't noticed that before and I should have!!! eeeeeks!
I will pop in on your blog, LOVE having such similarities (blog-wise) is always fantastic!!! Appreciate your suppert!

Permalink Reply by Nikkiana on February 27, 2012 at 7:15pm To be honest, I find myself really torn. I think your design is really pretty and I love all the jquery transitions that are going on, but the problem I have is it just doesn't say "I"m a blog" to me. Truth be told, I closed the site twice because I got frustrated with the workflow of the site in the process of reviewing it.
My feeling on blogs is generally the less clicks I have to make to get to the meat of the content, the better. On your site, it takes a minimum of two to get to a blog entry if you're using the top navigation or it takes 3 if you're using the slider. I personally have the attention span of one click... if it takes me more than one, I'm usually going to close the website no matter how pretty it is.
Permalink Reply by Lidy D. on March 15, 2012 at 5:37pm Nikkiana, thank you so much! I am totally not offended...I wanted to try something new and get feedback, so that's perfect! I will have to see what I can do to fix all that! It's so hard to get the perfect balance. I wanted it to look like something fresh and different, since so many of the blogs have very similiar layout. I wanted it to stand out a bit, but I do know that it also brings in a lot of other frustrations! Thank you for your input! I really appreciate it :)

Permalink Reply by Alynne Leigh on March 10, 2012 at 11:31pm I love love love your content! (: It's pretty much ADORABLE. And your pictures? SUPER great. I liked your DIY stuff. And I read about the hearts. So cute! (:
The layout though... I'm one of those "scroll through a blog" and check out the sidebars kinda gals. This felt more like a promotional website, than a "blog". If I was clicking around, I probably wouldn't stay for very long, only because the layout is confusing, and not very "scroll through" friendly.
I really dig your creativity though, and your URL name is awesome! (:
Keep up your great blogging, Lidy!
Permalink Reply by Lidy D. on March 15, 2012 at 5:40pm Thanks so much Alynne....I had that argument with myself as well. I love the scrolling, but I wanted to see what it would be like with different pages. I am going to have to really take all these wonderful suggestions and see what I can come up with so it is a nice balance. Like I mentioned to Nikkiana, I wanted something different but I am seeing that people like the scroll option. Thanks for your feedback and encouraging words, this is truly helpful!
