Ning to shut free networks?
Hey bloggers,
I'm not sure, but have you come across this news that Ning has decided to shut all the free networks on the website? Click Here to read a news article about the same. I'm not sure how would things would unfold in the days to come. BUT just to try and make a difference, I've started an online petition titled 'Ning shouldn't shut free networks'.
Request you to click here and sign the petition. But, far more importantly may I also please request you to help by spreading the word about this so that others could sign the petition and we could get more and more signatures. Share this link on your facebook/ twitter/ blog/ ning community/ emailing the same etc.
Just hoping this move could play a small role in forcing Ning management to revoke their decision to stop their support to the free networks.

That's annoying, but a petition won't stop them changing their business model. A petition with the people who run this network would be effective (if they realise nobody will want to pay, then they wouldn't do it)... but it wouldn't have any proper change for the users of the created networks.
I'm guessing they aren't making enough money, which will mean either it swaps to a paid thing, or we will get flooded with adverts (or features lacking).
