The Bloggers With The Most To Say

When you read blogs are you more interested in a blog that is personal or informational? Do you want to know the details of their life or only some personal and more so focus the topic of the blog?

I like both, as long as they are well-written and easy to relate to.
yeah, sometimes I'm not sure how much a reader wants to know about something. I know for myself when I read a blog I will skip over something where if I don't know them, then I don't really care to know... but at other times if I really like the writer then I want to know everything about them! haha.

I think I tend to be not as personal in most of my blog posts and I wonder if that hurts me more than it helps me.
After reading your post it seems it is important to constructively use your personal life/experiences in order to better get your point across or make it more relative to the reader... rather than part of a journal entry. Purpose is always important, of course haha.

btw, I like your tagline.
I agree with the above statements. I personally get lured towards blogs that have both personal and informational content as opposed to those that follow a strict theme. There's something about relating to the lives of others around the globe that intrigues me. At the end of the day, we aren't at all that different.
I don't read many personal blogs. The ones I do read I like to be poetic, or to have an interesting use of language, and humor. I don't really want to read about someone's daily existence, their significant other, or their dog, outright.

Situations that surround their significant other, and their dog may be worth writing and reading about, but someone would have to make me care — through their writing. That is pretty difficult to do, but when someone does it, I read em.
yeah, I guess that is why I ask because I know of a lot of personal blog that are very popular, but I've never been into reading about peoples lives if I don't know them. However, I do like knowing a little about the person who is writing something.
I too, like both. I like it to be relatable to me and my life but I also like to learn a little something when I read blogs (that way I can consider it educational) =)

I like reading personal blogs more usually. But I like informational depending on the content. And if it's well written, I'll pretty much like anything.

Most ofthe blogs I look forward to reading the most are primarily personal. It's like reading a story. You want to know what happens next!

My own blog is really a combination of both.

I don't mind personal blogs if they're more than just a dull recollection of a stranger's day. Some authors can retell their lives and create an entertaining story, but many personal blogs tend to be made of posts that wouldn't interest anyone outside the author's circle of friends. And hey, that's fine. I'm just not going to read it.

I like informative things if I can apply them to my life. If someone blogged about how to set up the best fantasy football team, I'd be completely clueless, and I wouldn't know what to say if I did read it. Informative content also has to have some flair to it to keep my attention. A too-technical post about anything can drive me away unless I was specifically looking for something like that.

So I guess to answer your question, I'd have to say I don't really lean one way or the other; it just depends on the writer.

I've constantly on the look out for blogs that use personal experience to give a message, like many people have said here... I think there are a huuuuuge number of blogs that are more of a journal-style, but that's not really the sort I want to read. It has to be relateable and consider the audience. My blog is more informative/life lessony in a personal way I think, I try and make it funny as well... can't seem to find many that are like that, as well as well-written. If anyone wants to link me any that would make my life a lot easier!

a blog I've been following for a while now is similar to what you are describing... she talks about her life but always with an inspiration message... and funny! You might already read her blog, but if not you might like it... http://nicoleisbetter.com/
