There's been quite a few incidents of plagiarism going on around the blogosphere these days. This is super uncool, and if you're caught doing it you'll be banned from 20sb immediately. (Even if you're copying from a non-20sb member)
To me, as crazy as it sounds, it almost seems like too much work to plagiarize! Like I would have to chop it up to my picky liking or scan the Internet for someone who sounds like me when I write. Ah, exhausting!
You're better off writing the random ramblings from your own skull, even if no one is listening/reading.
I've never checked to see if anyone is plagiarizing my blog or not, but seriously, how much time do you have on your hands if you're searching for where you blog content is being used online? That sounds even more exhausting!

I don't know about others but that is what I find so alarming about it...chances are, you'll never find out if someone is stealing your shizz. And it just feels so wrong...even though I don't think anything I write would be worthy of plagiarism, I still feel as though someone trying to claim it came from their head would feel like such a violation.
Today I was plagiarized (awesome, I know) and Wordpress was AMAZING about acting quickly. I reported the blog to stolen.wordpress.com and someone else reported him to http://automattic.com/dmca/
His blog was completely gone in less than 5 hours.
I think some people get plagiarized and some people get splogged which is a little different. Both free WP and Blogger seem to be pretty good about shutting down splogs it's the self hosted splogs that are a pain. The plugin I use on my blog http://www.bestblogs.asia/wp-feed-plugin.php, which ads the link to your blog at the end of every feed in case of feed scrapers is helpful for splogs.
It's more difficult with people who just come and copy your work, or those who paraphrase, some people don't understand that paraphrasing the work of another is plagiarizing. There is almost no way you can actually find this stuff unless other people find it and email you about it, which is what usually happens.
The guy from Zen Habits gave up his copyright here, and went Open Source. I know for those who write for a living this would be hard, not so much for me, but it is an interesting concept. I haven't checked in a while to see how it's working for him.
I just think its sad that people cant trust their own words and feel compelled to steal the words of others and try to pass them off as their own. Everyone should be able to trust their own voice. I hope it all stops soon.
