The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Ordinarily I'm too busy getting my dork on to talk about fashion or technology.

But I've recently done two posts that were in those veins and outside my scope of normal posting habits.

Fashion (fall choices)

Technology (Google +)

I don't want to trick new readers into thinking I'm something I'm not, or disappoint old readers by giving them what they can get elsewhere.

But what do you think....

Do you have a theme and stick to it?

Do you have a post that is outside of your scope? Has this effected your readership and do you care?

Obviously, I'm so tiny that these questions barely matter. But if it were you...

I've pigeonholed myself into the "devil may care/naive jerk" narrative, and find that whenever I decide I'm going to get real and discuss an issue, my readership plummets.
The more interesting question for me is, how much do you care?
Very little.
Also I had a captcha the other day that said "italko".

This one was slightly askew from what I usually post.  I was hoping to see some more enthusiasm for the subject, but I stand by my sentiments.

I'm not sure if I really have a "theme" yet ... I started off a little more serious, but lately I've been quite a bit more snarky/sarcastic/ridiculous. And potty-mouthed (sorry, mom). As my attitude spikes, so does my readership, it seems.

Today I'm talking politics (mostly just the godawfulness that is Rick Santorum), but in my still-developing snarky new style, so I guess we'll see what happens with hits. I think in general I'm just hoping people respond to the honesty under the humor (ugh, did I just call myself funny? What a snob.)

Desperate for something

I write about a lot of different topics, but they can mostly be grouped into a few categories, which I have linked at the top of my blog. Then I have kind of a catch-all category called "Slices of Life" for those times when my post is unrelated to my usual topics. I recently did a poll on my blog about which categories people like to read, and I was surprised to see that Slices of Life was right up there with topics like marriage and religion for the categories people like reading.

I once did a post with job hunting topics, which is waaay outside my normal blogging area but is something I'm passionate about. I didn't seem to lose any readers because of it, though. http://www.faithpermeatinglife.com/2011/04/how-not-to-get-hired.html

Even though I have multiple areas of focus, I try not to stray from them (like with the job hunting post) too often. I think readers appreciate having some idea of what they're going to get from me.

I struggled for a long time with the whole "theme" idea because I had NO idea what sort of theme to pick. I ended up going pretty much theme-less and I've been happy with that. I just write about what I feel like writing about and consider it all to fall under the theme of, well, "me."
