no i want the kids put up for adoption at birth because obviously the drug using pregnant parent can not get their priorities straight.

I think you misinterpreted the whole matter. yes, please read the post.
I don't think so. I get where it's going, but I think that's an invasion of privacy, and really won't solve the problem... If a person is messed on drugs they won't care about a test they have to take... and what are they going to do? make them have an abortion... the damage is already done.
All we can do is educate people, make birth control pills cheaper, and free condoms more available. The focus should be on preventing pregnancy for those with drug abuse problems.

Also... what about the people that casually do drugs? Say the girl in college who smoked weed on weekends, or perhaps even ventures into something more heavy, and then finds out she is pregnant... and has been for a few months. Stuff like this happens every day, and most likely, if the pregnancy had been planned the girl would have avoided this.

The REAL issue with pregnancy is alcohol. Mostly everyone in mainstream society drinks... FASD is so huge, and so many people know nothing about it...including doctors. Doctors tell women that it's safe to drink a beer, or have a glass of wine during pregnancy, when it's not. It's hugely risky, and one glass of alcohol can last in a fetus's system for days (My aunt works in the field, and has done a lot of research and been to many conferences on FASD).

Education education education... it's all we can do.
Provide some evidence that smoking marijuana occasionally while pregnant is harmful to the fetus. I've seen overwhelming evidence that occasional use has no measurable impact on a fetus, and can provide relief for some problems the mother may be experiencing from the pregnancy.

Then, figure out how the rights of the fetus supersedes the mother's right to privacy as guaranteed in the constitution.

Finally, we can start discussing this Orwellian suggestion.
this is not only marijuana testing, that was the example i used because thats what 2 girls at work do. this is DRUG testing. there is more than one drug in this world.
Okay, so she comes up positive for a drug. Now what? You can't incarcerate her. What? Are you going to terminate the baby?

When there are no logical ramifications for an action, it makes no sense to try to 'look' for that action

No.
