The Bloggers With The Most To Say
Permalink Reply by Tim B on February 13, 2012 at 9:38am While I realize blogging tends to be a primarily female dominated artform on the internet, I look at it the same way as males deciding to become nurses or early childhood teachers, two professions that tend to be female dominated. Participating in blogging doesn't make you any less of a man, nor should anyone think that way of you. Additionally, I don't feel that blogging destroys the concept of the traditional male gender role, if only because of the fact that as technology continues to evolve, so will the definition of the male (and female) gender role.
Permalink Reply by Gina on February 13, 2012 at 5:00pm I, personally, LOVE when guys use pinterest. Guys pin some of the best stuff! Admittedly, I'm not into crafting, or art, and I don't need recipes (I'm a natural cook and fly by the seat of my pants). I don't have a baby girl, I'm long done with my wedding and there doesn't look to be any more babies in my future, so MOST of what women are pinning is of little to no interest to me.
Bring on the Star Wars pins!
Otherwise, I have to agree with Tim. Being active in a community that happens to be mainly female does not make me think of you as less-masculine. Frankly, I have a lot of respect for men that can stand up and say they enjoy something that is culturally associated with female preferences. I'm sure the creators of Pinterest and Blogger and Wordpress had zero intention of making them female-based operations.
