The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Sometimes I hear a song and even if I hate the band I find myself wishing I'd written it. This is especially for true for songs that either have a really catchy melody or that effectively summarize a moment of my life better than I could have said it myself. Occasionally when I hear these songs I end up getting really upset because I irrationally feel a tie to the meaning I infer from the song. Especially when they're by a pop band that I otherwise do not like.

Some personal examples: Ivy/Edge of the Ocean; Dashboard Confessional/Vindicated; Maroon 5/This Love; Smashing Pumpkins/Zero; Poe/Haunted; Guster/Barrel of a Gun.

Anyone else feel the same? What songs do you wish you had written?

I wish I had written the lamest song ever, "Happy Birthday". I believe it is THE most sung song of all-time and the most well known song as well. Just imagine the royalties! Although it's kind of funny that nobody knows who actually wrote "Happy Birthday."
I wish I'd written Liz Phair's - Flower
Bob Dylan's It Ain't Me Babe
Duffy's Stepping Stone and of course Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.
Damn Cooper. Flower, really? That's naughty but I totally agree about wishing I had written it. Sometimes, when I listen to it, I actually imagine that I did.
I kinda wish I could've written "Hometown Glory" by Adele. It's so beautiful.

I'm pretty sure I could add more to that list, but I'll keep it short :)
Fix You by Coldplay and Sunday Morning by Maroon 5
"Stay" by Lisa Loeb, "Breaking the Habit" by Linkin Park and "Never Again" by Kelly Clarkson. And tons more . . .
Yeah, if we're going by how much money a song makes, I would like to have written a couple of Moby's songs. I don't particularly rate his music but his songs have been in tons of adverts I believe!
happy birthday
