Alrighty guys. So I'm on a mission.
Kind of this gotta let everyone know as soon as possible kind of thing.
Quick run down.
Stumbled across Belle Renee's blog entry... and it struck a chord in me. Big time. Totally inspired me to do something different for my gift giving this year for my family.
If you want to spend a few minutes reading about it, your more than welcome to here...but in a nutshell I will condense for the sake of not trying to sound like I'm trying to get readers. Because this is not about that...
Heifer.org is an organization that allows people to donate animals, or chip in for animals to be sent to impoverished villages and families across the world. These animals are used for milk, eggs, wool, offspring as donations to other families for the same. The milk/eggs is turned into food which is turned into money, etc.
My fiance and I decided we are going to buy a goat for $120.00 instead of buying gifts for our families, then will give them a small gift with card explaining what we did in honor of them and why. I feel it would be a more heartfelt gift than a CD since we are so broke. It would pass along awareness, knowledge and most of all love and giving.
I have no clue something like this existed, so I wanted to let everyone else know in case this is something that pulled at them as well.

You have a few options…
1) Donate towards her goal of sending an Ark of Animals to an impoverished area (2 of every animal)

3) Donate a “share” of an animal via Heifer.org’s website (click here) – sounds morbid, but your essentially chipping in towards an animal. Prices ranging $10+
