The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I realize a lot of us 20-somethings are at a loss as to how to find a
job. Too bad blogging doesn't make us rich.

So I'm curious who among you has been looking for work for a long time.
Sending out resumes and cover letters only to hear crickets? I did that
for 3 months before I got bored and impatient. After said 3 months I
decided to use social media (Facebook, Twitter and my blog to be exact)
as the ultimate job hunting tool. It worked like a charm and I had a
full time job as a publicist within 3 weeks.

I want to hear your stories. Do something crazy to land a job? Still
looking and so frustrated you want to kick a puppy?

I'm looking to feature interesting stories on my blog:
http://marianlibrarian.com. But more than that I just want to launch a
little discussion on Gen Yers and their job searching/post grad woes.

Last night, as my eyes got blurry and nearly encrusted, like a piece of Chilean Sea Bass, I filled out what may have been my 20th online application and resume and cover letter for a job that I do not even want, a job that, by the way, requires only a "high school diploma and some college." I have a Master's Degree, which I will be paying off even through old-age-related impotence and dementia. And I thought to myself, as I took their ridiculous faux-psychological profile ("I think that groups comprised of people from different backgrounds do poor work: Strongly Agree, Agree, Neither Agree nor Disagree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, I am a Rabid, Racist Piece of Shit with a Swastika tattooed on my forehead, a Hitler Moustache shaved into my pubic region and a wallet made out of the skin of ethnic babies") that lighting myself on fire might not be a terrible alternative to filling out any more of these applications, writing more bullshit cover letters, doctoring absurd-looking resumes and taking horseshit surveys.

But lighting myself on fire just seems like so much... I don't know.... work?
Apron, you crack me up. Thanks for this.

I totally - and unfortunately - know the feeling.
Well, Marian, at least I'm good for something. I've made a note to tell my mother so the next time I see her.
