The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I have wanted a tattoo since I can remember learning about their existence. I love the idea of having something personal, artistic and permanent etched into my skin. Yet, somehow I've stayed tattoo free for 24 years.

Recently, I've decided I want a tattoo and now. I haven't found an artist I like, but I know two great friends who are tattooed and highly recommend their artists are creative and most importantly CLEAN. My issue is that I am hesitating for a variety of reasons. (If you'd like to see them stop by my blog - they aren't particularly important).

I am thinking of getting a 1" diameter line drawing of a dove on my inner left wrist. I wear a watch 99.9% of the time which would cover it for the most part, but I am concerned about how it would affect me in work. I hold an executive position at a property management company.

Any and all advice is appreciated!

P.S. If you have some, I definitely want to hear about them/your experience!

Edit: There is a lively discussion going on in the comments section of this blog post, which will give additional reasons/answers to some of the things pointed out here. I'm lazy, so I'm just going to post the link: http://aliannakyran.blogspot.com/2009/03/tattoo-me.html

I thought about getting one on my foot - I saw this girl once with a rosary tattooed around her ankle/foot and I absolutely ADORED it! But, I love cute sandals more than ink, so that was out. Plus I hear that is more painful than wrists.

I've also heard that women take the pain better than men. Any thoughts?
The one on my foot did hurt worse than the one on my neck, but I also think that was partially due to it being my first tattoo and not truly knowing what to expect.

But all in all, didn't actually hurt much. My neck tickled, which made it tough to sit still, but otherwise, it was a breeze to get done.
i'll just go ahead and disagree cuz i'm a boy, but i'm not sure i'd defend myself all that rigorously, considering childbirth.
It is SO addictive. After my first tattoo healed and the newness wasn't there, I started debated what my second would be.

I got them about a year apart and now, less than 6 months since the last one, I'm thinking about the next. Ha.
I've heard piercing is addictive and also that ink is addictive - I'm not too worried about that, since I've yet to get a second piercing. Plus, I'm very indecisive. Once I love something (like my watch) I love it forever, but it took about 6 months to find just the right one. I'm not worried about wanting more. I probably will, but I doubt I'll get more. One is enough for me.
Piercing is totally addictive. I've been pierced 11 times (I've had to let some heal up, for one reason or another--I only have seven now).

I've posted my tat opinion on your blog. :)
