So tattoos, 20-sb's, what do you think? Do you think they're full of The Awesome? I'm thinking that I'm going to get a third this weekend and I'm pretty pumped. What do YOU think about tattoos?
I personally love tattoos. They're a way to express myself and are beautiful. I have 2 right now but after I get my tax money back I'm getting another.
The thing that sucks is that they aren't professional and I don't want to lose opportunities just because I have some ink. People look at you differently when you're covered in them or piercings.
You're absolutely right, and that's always what's prevented me from getting anything crazy visible or wild. I don't want to get turned down for a job (heh, I'm a writer) because of how I look, even if I am qualified. Luckily, my only companions don't care how I look for now.
Mine are easily covered by my shoes right now. The only one that will be visible is going to be my new one, which will go on my shoulder. Should be covered by a wrap (I hope).
I've got 9 and counting. For the most part, people dont even realize I have them. I have to keep them covered at work, which kind of blows because it restricts what I can wear, but at the same time that's good...this way things won't get out of hand.
I get really nervous and sweaty each time and feel really uncomfortable with the artist so close while I'm in the state of perspiration :P So, don't feel stupid.
1 on my foot, 1 on my ankle, 4 on my sides, 2 on my hips and 1 on my wrist. I'm working on tying the hips/side together, but my brain has gone blank for the time being. And, you're right about the whole belly thing. It's gonna be a scary sight one of these days! LOL
I'm going to get a phoenix on the ball of my shoulder and have it sort of snake around my arm and back a bit. Nothing HUGE, but absolutely there. I can't WAIT!
I have one on my upper back and one on my wrist. The one on my wrist is a small treble clef and most people don't care about that one because it's so small. The one on my back is a big butterfly in the dia de los muertos style with my best friends initials in it with RIP. I got it done on the anniversary of her death.
I really just don't care if someone isn't going to hire me because I have tattoos. To me it's like prejudice. I choose to get what I get because it has meaning and is a part of me. It's in my skin, it is me, even though I had to pay someone to put it there.
i don't know how i feel about tattoos. i think some are really, really beautiful, and yet some are just TERRIBLE and of such bad taste. my sister has around five tattoos, i like the biggest of them, but the others are just, blergh.
It's all about what people choose and where they choose to get them, right? I'm TOTALLY with you on this! Some that I see, I'm all did you WANT "Juicy" tattooed on your neck? But then I remember that there's no accounting for taste, right?
exactly! it's about what you get, what does it mean, where you place it, do you want everyone to see it? is the style right? are you going to regret it when you're old and wrinkly? are the colors right for your skin tones? is the tatooer a fine artist?
there's so much at stake that if i had one of my own, it'd have to be someplace where i can't see it often.
i just have the feeling i might regret permanently marking my skin. yes, i know there are ways to remove, but they're painful. i don't handle changes very well. getting one of my own would require years of pondering.
i find my sister's tattoo pretty. but most of the time i catch myself thinking she had it done more because she wants people to look at her rather than any other, personal, reason. i'm not saying that's everyone's case, but it is what i see happening around me.
I've been really careful to consider everything before I got my tattoos because I know that getting something adorable on my belly won't be so cute after I have three kids. The skin, it just doesn't go back. Hehe.
I'm hoping my new one looks awesome. I think it will. I've wanted this one for...hm...2 years? I'm slow as a turtle with this stuff. Considering I can't just scrub it off, I BETTER like it.
