The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I'm trying to install Google AdSense ads on my Wordpress blog.

I copy the AdSense HTML code as instructed, copy it into a HTML/Text-only widget, save changes, and when I view my page, nothing is there.

I thought it was maybe the size of the ad or orientation (i.e. I need to use vertical ads), but even after changing those specifics, still nothing.

Can any of you tech-savvy bloggers help me figure this out?

I don't use wordpress.com (I'm self-hosted and use the .org counterpart). I don't use adsense, but maybe try prefacing the adsense code with a similar tag in that sidebar. Every theme is different... some are coded with the < p > tag and others use the < li > tag. It's worth a shot, at least.
I'm pretty sure wordpress.com doesn't allow ads. Self-hosted wordpress blogs (wordpress.org) do, and so does blogger.
I don't use wordpress.com, so that could be. I know you can't do much with the code to change or edit the themes unless you pay for an upgraded form of the service. Self-hosted, for me, is cheaper and far more powerful a platform.
I have a self-hosted wordpress blog too. It's my favorite.

I just double checked, and wordpress.com doesn't allow ads. See here.
Personally, I think AdSense is a total waste and often turns readers away. Although if you still need help, I could probably help you. Although on second thought, what you did should work. But if WordPress doesn't allow ads, like is being mentioned above, than is probably the problem.

I'm more of a Blogger boy than WordPress guru.
Thanks all - I realized yesterday (after I'd already signed up) that I can't post ads on my blog because it's a Wordpress.com and not Wordpress.org site.

There goes one plan for making extra money!
Trust me, you wouldn't really have made extra cash. You would have made change. Seriously, pennies and nickels from AdSense. It's not worth the trouble.
I knew I should've just resorted to stripping, LOL.

Though, I doubt I'd make much money that way, either...I'm not exactly Baywatch-worthy!
Porn pays better than stripping, just an FYI.
I'll keep that in mind ;)
