The Bloggers With The Most To Say
Does anybody read the "About Me" section of blogs?
Or is this another one of those things that we- as narcissistic bloggers- think other people want to read, but nobody actually does?
What does your "About Me" section say? Do you update it? Do you think people read it?

Permalink Reply by Kimba McG on February 7, 2012 at 5:34pm The about page is often my fave section of someones blog. I didn't really think about it much until I was researching whether or not to have my own (to which the answer is always a resounding YES from every piece of advice).
I have an About page and an FAQ on Kim vs Paradise and just the about page on Kim in a Trope. I know that at least two people have read the about page, thanks to the comments. Although I don't really think either of them say much about me... I just ramble a lot.
Permalink Reply by Anna Combrink on February 7, 2012 at 5:52pm I read them when I find a new blog that I like. If I click on a blog and I'm not that interested, I'll usually ignore it.
I have one, but I don't think it gives anymore information than you'd get from just reading my blog.
Permalink Reply by abby on February 7, 2012 at 6:01pm I love reading people's "about me" pages -- I think it gives a nice overview of the writer's style, and mission statement so to speak. If it's interesting I will most likely stick around to read more! Even if I don't like the blog I will still read the about me page. Maybe I am just nosey at heart? :) Also... I like reading people's lists of goals.

Permalink Reply by Melissa Lawhorn on February 7, 2012 at 9:00pm YES! I read a blog first/check out the design, then I go straight to the about and social sections. Before I start following a blog, I want to learn more about them and see if they're active in other places :)
Permalink Reply by Krys on February 7, 2012 at 11:16pm I read them whenever I come across a new blog - I like to get a feel for who I'm reading about!
Mine is pretty basic but I do keep it updated as necessary. I have no idea if anyone reads it but it makes me feel better to have it there just in case anyone wants to!
Permalink Reply by Cherie on February 8, 2012 at 1:48am I for sure read them. Not on every blog, but those that I think I have an interest in reading on the long term. Or if someone just fascinates me.
I update mine every few months, I guess. It was a little behind until recently. Meh. I should update it more, but I kind of forget it's there.
I read them, especially if I am new to a blog, they help me to find out about a blogger quickly. I am prone to not updating mine as often as I should! www.hazellovesdesign.com
Permalink Reply by New York Cliche on February 8, 2012 at 5:35pm I think About Me pages are super important. When checking out a blog for the first time, I always look at them and it can make-or-break whether I continue reading.
Mine used to be really short, just a simple paragraph. I recently revamped the whole thing. It has pictures now and a lot more info. I like it, but I do wonder if viewers prefer short and sweet or comprehensive. http://newyorkcliche.com/about/
Permalink Reply by Ashley on February 9, 2012 at 6:30am I really don't think so? I mean I put it up there so people can find out who I am and where I am from. Except I realized I don't even have that info on there lol http://shewhowillbetamed.blogspot.com/p/about-moi.html
Permalink Reply by Sophie Leach on February 12, 2012 at 3:22pm I have an 'About me' section to explain to newcomers what my blog is about, and my story. I hardly ever update it though, and it's not, in my opinion, and important page on my blog. I guess I just have one because everyone else does?!
Permalink Reply by Jessica on February 12, 2012 at 5:31pm I didn't have one for a while, and then I was doing the SITS Girls' 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge, and everyone was like, "OMG where's your 'About Me' page??" So I made one. (You can read it here if you care.) So at least in that crowd everyone was looking for that right off the bat.
I actually prefer "About This Blog" (which I did already have) to "About Me" because that's really what will help me decide whether I want to read/subscribe to your blog, more than, like, your favorite food or how many kids you have.
Permalink Reply by Kayleigh Eneida on February 13, 2012 at 2:33pm My about me section is a video. I might be changing it sometime soon, it seemed like a good idea at the time but im self conscious and don't really like it anymore.
I usually only read the about me section in a blog if its one i visit on a regular basis. Although every now and then I might check out the about me section on a random blog. Its cool to have the about me section on your page, but i don't go to a blog to read specifically that section, i go because i enjoy reading what people have to say on a daily or weekly basis.
