I don't know if anyone has heard, but Stephenie Meyer is releasing a new book in June based on Eclipse - the third book in the series!
Anyone excited to read it? What did everyone think of that series & the fact that it's still such a craze?!
Personally I read all 4 Twilight books faster then I care to share... But now that I look back on it, I realize that they really weren't well written at all. They were however incredibly entertaining when I read them, so I don't regret it. But can Stephenie Meyer PLEASE move on to something else now?!
A half draft got leaked on the internet, and she had a tantrum about it and swore never to finish it to spite her fans... Thus, while I'm not a fan of such behavior, the books are fun to read, if you don't expect much...
I've read all of the Twilight Saga series and it's quite good for me.
The new book she's releasing is about Bree, the short-lived new born vampire on Eclipse. I don't know why she has to release a book about the character.
Well, i've read The Host too. It's sci-fi.
Stephenie Meyer is just new so i think i'll give her credit. I enjoyed her books anyway.
"What she's done for the industry is too incredible not to applaud"
all she did was write a romance with a main character so bland than any reader could project their face onto her. bella swan may as well be called mary sue because twilight is nothing more than self-indulgent vampire fanfiction.
"bella swan may as well be called mary sue because twilight is nothing more than self-indulgent vampire fanfiction."
May as well? I would say that she is indeed a Mary Sue.
All she did was change classic Vamp lore for her own liking and made it "kid-friendly" (zomg! sparkly vegetarian vampires!).
And while I know vamp and were and all that lore has been around ages, I find it kinda amusing that Twilight and True Blood seem to be the 2 "big" vampire series right now, when I believe Harris' series was on book 4 or 5 by the time the first Twilight book came out...
Just my theory, but it seems like the Twilight people are in a race to get their movies out first, as New Moon was just released and introduced Werewolves into that universe, whereas the 3rd season of True Blood comes out in June and... the werewolves are introduced this season as well! If you haven't read the books and only know anything about either series based off the movies/show and it's reviews, it would almost seem like True Blood is copying Twilight (which if I hadn't read the books I'm sure I would be one of those people thinking that!), which is really more the other way around as the True Blood books came out years before Twilight, including the book that introduces the werewolves to the series. Seems kinda fishy to me...
Let me tell you...I am actually kind of pissed. I love the Twilight Saga, but a book on the short lived (literally) character of Bree is just nonsense...especially when there is a half-finished Midnight Sun ('Twilight' from Edward's point of view which got leaked onto the net and which is actually my favorite of the Twilight Saga work) just sitting on a shelf, getting dusty, waiting for Stephanie to get over her little tantrum about it being leaked, to finish it and publish it. PLEASE.
And then she can move onto to something that doesn't involve sparkling, 109-year old virgin vampires. I actually think her writing style isn't bad, and it does suck me in, so I would be willing to give anything else she writes a chance. I have not had a chance to read The Host yet because it is perpetually checked out of the library, and sold out of the bookstore.
Hate is a very strong word, but I'm tempted to use it in reference to the Twilight books.
There are so many beautifully written books out there that haven't received even an 1/8th of the hype Twilight has, and those books are terribly written! People say "I read it for the plot" but I find the whole vampire thing really unappealing.
I read the first 3 pages and was completely baffled as to why everyone liked them so much!
Ok, rant over :P I do hope the world moves on from Twilight soon though.
And for amazing, really well written fantasy-love story type fiction, read Kim Wilkins!! Seriously, 'Autumn Castle' is wonderful. As is 'Giants of the Frost.' Those are the books that deserve to be turned into movies and have a million fans!
