The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So, confession time. I'm not one to be lambasting people with 4-letter words while I walk through the grocery store or crowded street all, "MOVE YOUR ASS."

But on my blog? Those explicatives are pretty much guaranteed, though I've had commenters say that it was unnecessary and grounds for poor writing.

What about you, 20sb? What do you think about using "the language" on your blog? Does it help or hurt?

BSTALKS: My husband says the exact same thing. He's usually all, "The only reason it's a BAD word is because someone decided it as such. We could make 'chicken' a bad word...it's just a WORD."

Heather: Good point...very good point.

(I think I messed up on the reply...hence the double-reply thing...sorry!)
I completely agree.
I use foul language occasionally on my blog, although I can't recall ever dropping the f-bomb (it's entirely possible, though). It really just depends on what comes naturally to me when I'm composing a blog entry - I don't make an effort either way to avoid it or purposely use it.
"I don't make an effort either way to avoid it or purposely use it."

I like that, it's a great way of saying why I sometimes let it slip.
That's a good way of looking at it...instead of having a quota you're trying to fill. I mean, we hate that the police do it with speeding tickets.......
I try not to use too many vulgar words but sometimes I feel they are necessary to get my point across. Even in my 20sb profile says, "you'll like my blog of you like... the F bomb" so I try to prepare people for it but I've never had any complaints.
That is a GREAT pre-warning...I should've thought about that...instead? People will pretty much just have to be surprised...
I do not use "the language" on my blog because I rarely use it in real life.
I don't use it either...in "real life" but for some reason I'm less...afraid? Censored? I don't know...it's just different with my blog.
I just started blogging a couple of days ago, and I know already I will have a weekly "WTF?!" Scenario that I have written about posted. I try not to use a whole lot of explicit language, not only because I don't want to offend people all the time, but because I find I can express myself better without it. Sometimes, though WTF?! Is the only thing that will suffice.
Isn't it, though? Especially getting cut off in Atlanta traffic with insane drivers. That situation almost always calls for a WTF?!?! Followed closely by my horn....
I cuss way too fucking much.

I tend not to use profanity on other blog comments (unless I know it's ok) because I wouldn't straight out cuss up a storm upon first meeting someone in real life. But if you come to MY blog then you are in MY world, and I happen to cuss quite a bit. It is in no way a means to offend or degrade someone, but if it does happen to turn people off o-fucking-well. Don't read my shit.

There are plenty of other "clean" blogs out there right?!

Great forum discussion.
