The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Due to Facebook's constant changes, the users have become very much annoyed by the alteration it does every now & then. The most disliked modification is it's new privacy settings due to which the network has now become a stalkers manual to easy guide.

Fb's source of revenue depends on its users. So if all the users collectively boycott using it for couple of hours, it will somehow make a difference. A friend & I have thought over it and came on a decision to take the first step and see how well it goes. The best way to spread the message across on fb to all the users is either through statuses or inbox messages. It's a joint effort & I would appreciate if you all would give your input.

Share your thoughts/ideas/opinions over it and let me know if you guys like the idea. We will then begin the campaign asap.

Thanks.

I wouldn't be against something like that. Using Twitter to help spread the word about a FB Boycott would be effective, too.

Recently, I came across this blog: http://facebookiswatchingyou.blogspot.com/2010/04/what-you-say-now-...
That's what really pushed me over the edge with the privacy issues. If we don't say something now, it'll only get worse.
Big Brother, anyone?
(as corny as it was) It feels like a scene from that movie Eagle Eye.

Power to the people (and not the people in power).

People, I guess I could use some help with your comments/replies?????
Facebook is now big enough that even if you got, say, 30% of users to not use it for a full day, they know that not all of those people are going to delete their accounts, and that more and more people are signing up every day. Starbucks runs the same way. They change the product they sell, reviews come back saying the new products suck, but they are stubborn and refuse to go back to the old way because they know that in the end, people are still going to buy their product.

The way Zuckerburg or whatever his name is put it, Facebook is not a democracy. It is not regulated by its users. They have goals that they plan to meet with their product, and if people don't like the way they set out to meet these goals, then they can stop using the product.

He says this with confidence knowing that Facebook is used by so many people - people who have become dependent on it for communication - that he doesn't have to feel any pressure from the users. Basically, the past few updates, which have all been protested against in one form or another, have all been implemented despite the negative feedback. Just their way of saying "Fuck you, we're in control here".
In other words, I don't think a protest is going to work. Actually, the only thing that would possibly work is if the users of Facebook had a representative on their board of directors. But we don't. They are just a bunch of money-driven assholes, apparently.
I think facebook is creepy. I've been seriously considering deleting my account. I've had it for 5 years now, and I depend on it for so much. I don't think there is much chance, though, that facebook will change direction on their recent trend of less privacy, and in that case, I feel like I can't trust facebook with any more of my information.
Ahan.. I can't trust it anymore. Okay so what if we boycott using it for couple of hours?
oh man do you remember when it got the stalker feed aka "news feed" and people really freaked out? and it was on the news etc.?
i feel like that was the most active/outraged i have seen our generation, like, ever.
which is kind of sad.

anyway if you are talking about pandora etc. connecting to facebook, yeah, it is freaking me out. i don't really need people knowing every thing i do every moment of the day.
let us boycott.
Yes, we will surely boycott once everyone approves of it. :)
O yes why not. As I said earlier, all its revenue depends on its users, so if we boycott it for a couple of hours or a lil more, they'd go crazy! It'll be a joint effort though.. once we all agree, it'll be a showdown! ;)
