The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I've been doing a bit of a feature about thrift shopping on my blog this month, and I'd love to hear what you think--is thrift shopping trendy? Or totally gross?

Do you own anything that's second hand?

I've found lots of great things from thrift stores that I actually use on a regular basis - mostly jackets or purses. I can never consider buying second hand shoes though......

Austin, TX has such great stores, I miss living there and getting to shop regularly!

I grew up under the poverty line. So thrift shopping and dumpster diving will always be a part of my life - even when I have money. You should do a piece on dumpster diving in large university towns.
What sort of things would you dive for? And what were your fav finds?
I'm so bad at responding! Just about anything that wasn't plush. Furniture is an iffy thing. However, in a university town, people would often put clothing out very nicely in their own bags and sometimes even folded. My favorite finds were the Abercrombie and Fitch clothing. I dressed really well for finding my clothes in the trash.
I LOVE thrifting!  Totally gross?  Eh...nothing a quick run through the wash or some Clorox can't fix! :)  Checking out your post now!

Thift Shopping can be a combo of both (it just depends where you go) but on my thrift finds are TRENDY. It's like a big treasure hunt for the most vintage items and the deals are AMAAAzing! I really didn't start thift shopping until I go into college because I would always see a couple of friend's wearing some classic dress or fierce blazers and they use to tell me they got it at thift stores. I didn't believe it at first but I became a fanatic once I hooked in a couple of pieces. Anytime someone refers me to a new place, I'm always cautious because you might just end up with a gross selection.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I've actually already found two blazers that I loooooooove with all of my heart. haha! I've yet to find a dress I adore though!

ugh. gross. so freaking gross.

and i know that sounds really arrogant but i simply cannot stand thrift stores, no matter how high end they are. everything just looks tatty and old to me. there's just something about knowing that someone else wore it that makes me feel gross and i can't look at it the same way. I've been in places that had genuine Dior and D&G clothes and I still couldn't stomach it. i don't mind second hand jewelry, handbags and home decor (I will NEVER buy plush furniture second hand.) but that's as far as it goes. It's possible that my ingrained, deep hatred for thrifting comes from the fact that my father used to try and force me to shop at goodwill etc. but never succeeded. if he'd had his way, everything we owned would've come from goodwill and nothing would've ever been purchased new.

For me, it depends on the store. Some are nice and other, well, not so much. I stick to accessories usually, and when I do get an article of clothing, I always wash them. And I NEVER, EVER buys shoes. Gross.

I love thrift shopping! Especially with the economy being crap, I'd love to have brand new jeans.. I just can't justify spending $50 or more on a pair when I can find something similar for under $10 at a thrifty store. Now, some stuff (personal items, shoes, bras/underwear, etc) I'm not ok with. I've had really good luck at thrift shops and it's all in looking at the pieces with a critical eye I think. I'm all about being cute and frugal. :)

I don't think it's gross, but I am a huge germophobe and believe people's energy carries with their possessions. So I rarely ever thrift shop. I guess it'd have to be an amazing, unique item for me to buy it. ^_^

i LOVE thrift shopping

i have found some of my fav. shirts and vest at thrift stores!!

the only thing that sucks is shifting thru tons of other random/weird stuff to find that one thing that catches your eye...

but i def would say it is trendy and not gross!
