The Bloggers With The Most To Say
I've been doing a bit of a feature about thrift shopping on my blog this month, and I'd love to hear what you think--is thrift shopping trendy? Or totally gross?
Do you own anything that's second hand?

Austin, TX has such great stores, I miss living there and getting to shop regularly!

Permalink Reply by Holly Young on January 27, 2011 at 7:39pm Thift Shopping can be a combo of both (it just depends where you go) but on my thrift finds are TRENDY. It's like a big treasure hunt for the most vintage items and the deals are AMAAAzing! I really didn't start thift shopping until I go into college because I would always see a couple of friend's wearing some classic dress or fierce blazers and they use to tell me they got it at thift stores. I didn't believe it at first but I became a fanatic once I hooked in a couple of pieces. Anytime someone refers me to a new place, I'm always cautious because you might just end up with a gross selection.

Permalink Reply by Lexi on January 27, 2011 at 8:03pm ugh. gross. so freaking gross.
and i know that sounds really arrogant but i simply cannot stand thrift stores, no matter how high end they are. everything just looks tatty and old to me. there's just something about knowing that someone else wore it that makes me feel gross and i can't look at it the same way. I've been in places that had genuine Dior and D&G clothes and I still couldn't stomach it. i don't mind second hand jewelry, handbags and home decor (I will NEVER buy plush furniture second hand.) but that's as far as it goes. It's possible that my ingrained, deep hatred for thrifting comes from the fact that my father used to try and force me to shop at goodwill etc. but never succeeded. if he'd had his way, everything we owned would've come from goodwill and nothing would've ever been purchased new.
Permalink Reply by K on January 27, 2011 at 8:11pm I love thrift shopping! Especially with the economy being crap, I'd love to have brand new jeans.. I just can't justify spending $50 or more on a pair when I can find something similar for under $10 at a thrifty store. Now, some stuff (personal items, shoes, bras/underwear, etc) I'm not ok with. I've had really good luck at thrift shops and it's all in looking at the pieces with a critical eye I think. I'm all about being cute and frugal. :)
Permalink Reply by Angie on January 27, 2011 at 9:04pm I don't think it's gross, but I am a huge germophobe and believe people's energy carries with their possessions. So I rarely ever thrift shop. I guess it'd have to be an amazing, unique item for me to buy it. ^_^

i have found some of my fav. shirts and vest at thrift stores!!
the only thing that sucks is shifting thru tons of other random/weird stuff to find that one thing that catches your eye...
but i def would say it is trendy and not gross!
