20 Something Bloggers

The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Hey 20sbers,

I am wondering if any of y'all have any tips or tricks for increasing blog traffic. I started a blog with a few friends about 2 months ago. We write about a wide range of topics--politics, science, news, sustainability, music, robots, etc. I sortof envision the blog being like boing-boing, but with that 20-something twist.

Anyway, our address is www.grownasspeople.com. Do you guys have any ideas or success stories with regards to growing your blog's readership? Are our range of topics too broad? Any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Ben

I learned that blogging audiences are like keeping friend: to have one you must be one.

I find commenting and participating in blogging communities, like this one, up the traffic. I'm hoping that I have developed a steady readership, but I'm not sure.
I couldn't agree more! Almost all of my readers are bloggers themselves, and I read and comment on their blogs regularly.

Also, post regular content.
This seems to be a very common question around here. Some just write what they want on their blog, like I do, with no goals for the blog, your plans seem more ambitious. I guess it's about writing something people want to read, and at first you really need to develop relationships with other bloggers to get readers. It used to be easier, but with the sheer number of bloggers out there now you need to start by interacting on the blogs of others, unless you have absolutely the most splendid blog ever written.

Find blogs you like, read and comment, if that person likes your blog they may ink to you and others will find you through those links...those are the more stable readers. The listings and all are important but my longest term readers are usually referrals from other blogs.

You can Google analyze all day if you don't have good and fairly regular content, and if the blog has no personality, it won't really matter.
