The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So, I've heard that you should never blog about work. Is that really true? I use my blog to say what I want to, to say what I'm really feeling. So, should I blog about work or not? What are other blog no-no's?

I've heard horror stories about people who blog about work. If I had a job and I felt the need to blog, I'd probably do so. That's just who I am. Plus, I never mention my state/city/company I work for/etc. so I do not think an employer or co-worker could easily find me. I also NEVER mention my blog to employers/co-workers.

I know that doesn't answer your question... Sorry!
Don't apologize. Thanks for the advice :-) A co-worker of mine just posted his blog on facebook. I haven't checked it out yet.

I think I need to start over lol.
Do your co-workers know about your blog? If so, DON'T BLOG ABOUT WORK. They WILL fire you.
I don't talk about my blog to anyone. I just mentioned I had a blog and that was all (to the co-worker in the comment above in passing...nothing else was said about it)
i would never blog about work whether my coworkers knew about my blog or not! too risky, in my opnion.
It's a personal choice. I've just recently started blogging about EVERYTHING. No topic is off limits. Of course, I always make sure that I am blogging to help my own personal process, and that it is not hateful. But you have to figure out what you want to put out there. It's good you are thinking about it though.
Depends who's reading your blog, depends on what you have to say, and depends on whether or not people know it's YOU blogging. That being said, I'd advise against it. People check up on their employees like crazy. If you feel the need to write it down, write it out in Word and save it. You'll have the same sense of catharsis, but with none of the nasty risks.
Thanks to all of your for the advice
I have blogged about work, vented about customers, etc. But I've always made sure to not say something that could potentially get me in trouble.

I currently don't work but I think it depends on the job, of course.
I never blog about work. I may mention it, but I never go into any major detail (especially about my boss, coworkers, etc).
Being a teacher, I've mentioned situations from school in my blog, but I never mention place or people names. My name is the only name on my blog, and I think it should stay that way.
I sort of blog about work, but I never name where i work, and I never talk about my co-workers. I also don't have a professional job yet - I work at a cafe, so I mainly blog about my annoying regulars and again, I don't use their names.

But if I worked in an office or somewhere more professional I wouldn't talk about it unless I was super vague or unless I was writing about something good that happened.

Be careful if you have co-workers who know you blog, or even co-workers on facebook (if you've linked your blog there.)
