The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So, I've heard that you should never blog about work. Is that really true? I use my blog to say what I want to, to say what I'm really feeling. So, should I blog about work or not? What are other blog no-no's?

I think it is ok if you aren’t specifically listing your company name or the names of your colleagues....because that can eventually find a way to come back and harm you. I also wouldn’t suggest blogging about work if your co-workers are reading your site- you never know their tolerance levels.

But, if it is a private outlet for you to vent- then I don’t really see harm I still wouldn’t list specific names on it tho (including your own)
When I had a job, I blogged about work. At the time, no one ever read it. If they had read it, I wouldn't have cared. It was a terrible job that I wouldn't have cared to lose. It was just a technical support job. However, I never mentioned the name of the company. I had to get it off my chest. That job was the worst I've ever had. and I had to bitch about it to someone. Well, at least get my thoughts out of my system and vent. Even if someone from the company had read it, I would've said the same stuff I wrote and told them to their face.

Now, that I am in grad school. I don't have to worry about it. After grad school, when I get a job in my field-counseling. I won't mention work, mostly due to confidentiality and the ethics of the profession.
I guess it depends on if it is a job or a career. I don't think most people who want long careers in any chosen field are going to be blogging about their work environment or the people they work with.
I don't talk much about work, because I love my jobs and wouldn't want to lose them. I also can't afford to lose them. I've never told coworkers about my blog, but it's on the internet and open to anyone, so I don't take the risk of writing anything that could cause problems with my employment. I don't find it too to restrictive, to be honest.
Not sure if anyone posted this but go to www.dooce.com ... Oh pardon, perhaps I should define dooce first. Check out her about me. Cheers.
I think it depends on whether or not you really like your job. My last job I had (about a year ago) was one of my worst & I spent a great deal of my work day hate-blogging. If you like it, keep quiet. Otherwise, say what you want!
There have been more than a few stories about people losing their jobs because of their online activities. If you are going to blog about work I'd say make sure you keep it on the anonymous tip, unless of course you really hate your job in which case... well... go forth young skywalker.
