The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So some of the counties near me have started to make it illegal for fast food joints like McDonalds and Burger King to put toys in their kids meals if the meals have more than a certain amount of calories or is otherwise unhealthy.

Now San Francisco is on course to do the same. Check out this article which lays out both sides of the argument. What do you all think?

Well tbh I may be the exception but it was always the toys for me when I was a kid. If I went to McD's it was a Happy Meal or a 4 pack of nuggets, nothing else held any interest for my tiny materialistic brain.

Still doesn't; I only set foot in there to buy a Happy Meal.
Impossible?

This is nanny state bullshit.
You're not missing anything. It is is an ill thought out idea that doesnt hold up to the smallest amount of scrutiny. As you have just shown.
I think this is ridiculous. A PARENT is in control of what a small child eats, and this is not the government's business to be butting into.

My kids don't eat McDonald's. It's both costly and gross. They see their friends at playgroup with happy meals and toys and they whine to me a little bit, but I am the one who says "No." the children are not in charge.

It's not McDonald's fault that parents are wusses and give in to everything their kids want.
I personally think this law is silly and that it's up to a parent to decide whether or not they are going to take their child to McDonalds, so a toy isn't going to change anything.
i read about this a month or so ago. i used to LOVE getting the toys in happy meals, and i'm still known to buy one if they happen to be giving out my little pony toys...

anyways, i think it's a little extreme. i understand the reasons for doing so, but like other people have said, parents need to do their own parenting. if you can't handle your kid's diet and teach them good eating habits, that's totally on you - not McDonald's. also, i have never seen a kid throw a fit over wanting a happy meal for the toy. they definitely shouldn't blame it on the toys!
