I have looked at the weather for this weekend and it is looking like Friday will be clear (& hot), Saturday will be raining, and Sunday will be clear (& hot).
I was figuring we would do outside tourist stuff on Friday. Example- I know many of you mentioned the Bean (which I love). Some of us Chicago bloggers don't live in the city so if we could try to nail down a rough time schedule that would be great (morning, afternoon, etc)
So how about right now we try to figure out what to do on Friday.
What do you guys want to see?
I've still got to work on Friday, but will hopefully get off at lunch. I work in Evanston, so I'd still have a long trek down, but I'll call the few people I've got numbers for so I can hook up with everyone!
I'm down with Cloud Gate (the Bean).. and the faces thing too (Chicago's mini water park!)... with the weather being what it is, it'd probably be good to hit up Taste on Friday... ... I'll take a look around and ask some friends about ideas on what's going on around the city.
Here are a few things happening in Chicago on Friday that might be of interest:
Happy Hour w/ Chris Foreman on Hammond B-3 Organ @ Green Mill 5-8p FREE
Chicago Soul Music Festival @ Union Park (1501 w Randolph St - West Loop) 5-10p $10
American Music from the 1930s @ Harris Theater for Music & Dance 6:30-8:15p
Jazz Vocalist Karrin Allyson @ Green Mill 9p-1a $12
The Pre-After Party Show (Comedy) @ Berlin (Lakeview) 10pm $5
Green Mill Quartet Jam Session @ Green Mill 1:30-4a FREE
Also on Thursday -- Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra is at the Green Mill (a Jazz club in Uptown) from 9p-1a, $6 at the door.
I'm just about figuring out a starting/meeting point for Friday so that I know what train to catch and if I need to move my doctor appointment. If people want to start at the Bean/Taste/Cupcake/etc and wander from there I'm all for it.
as my email said, jenn and i will try to get the swag located at my office, which is close to downtown. if we're doing the millenium/Taste circuit, which it looks that way, it'll be a decently close homebase for people to grab their stuff whenever's convenient.
I'm liking the Bean/Taste starting point idea. Anyone know when they would like to try this? Late morning? Early afternoon? If the game is at 3 then maybe late morning to start? How many people are going to the game?
well crap. too much going on for me to remember small details like that. oh well...
So, um, is the plan just sort of "of the moment" after visiting the bean and going to taste? I probably won't be in the loop until about 1 or 2p depending on if I can leave early and if I want to change out of my work clothes...
