The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Let's talk about Twilight! I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon, but I'm glad I did! I just finished the first 2 books in the 4 book series and I'm hooked! I love the Twilight movie trailer and can't wait for the movie to come out on November 21st. I KNOW it's a teen novel, but so are the Harry Potter books and everyone loves them. Let's hear your thoughts on the Twilight series: Love 'em or hate 'em? Refuse to read 'em? Shut up about it already? What the heck is Twilight?

Here's the website for the movie: Twilight

I was never really that into Edward. I think he's kind of a douche. Very controlling and all. Jacob had his problems too, but I much prefer him to Edward.
I agree with what a lot of you are saying: I think the books are cheesy, and so was the movie. I also agree that it's like coming off an addiction. I was in this weird trance for the 2 weeks that I was reading the books/waiting for Borders.com to deliver them. I do think that the books are great if you want to escape into another world.

As for giving little girls poor ideals on men... I disagree. I had the biggest crush on Leonardo DiCaprio when I was younger. I wanted Jack from Titanic so badly! But he was just a character, just a phase. I clearly got over it, and I'm fine. If the young girl is waiting for someone "perfect" like Edward, maybe that's a good thing. I think girls these days are whoring themselves out too often and too young. Learn from the Mormon writer of the books: wait to have sex! Let's rid the world of 12 year old's having sex!
yeah I do agree that on that last point there about young girls should wait indeed with sex...older girls as well for that matter...
I guess people do come out of their phases, I been there many times where I have been in love with a character as well.
I just watched all the frenzy on tv around this particular movie like I never seen before that I thought that girls were going a bit nuts at malls and stuff, thats what got me a bit worried. Like you said its all just a phase.
ok just saw this over the weekend... havent read the books, didnt know what the movie was about, was dragged to see it and all i have to say is I <3 Edward Cullen! The way he looked at her, the way he spoke.. there was just something about it!
Oh god, I grudgingly bought the first book because I thought I would hate it then flew through it and the other three in less than a week.

I'm obsessed and convinced a ton of blog friends to pick them up because of my constant Edward babbling.

My friend and I talk Twilight in our internetz book club here and my movie thoughts here.
It's so interesting to me what a phenomenon Twilight has recently become, especially considering that the book originally came out in 2005. I first read it when I was still working in the bookstore, and even though I recommended it like crazy to the little teen girls who would come in, it wasn't very popular until recently.
I just got the book tonight from a friend...and while I've been told that the books aren't really well written and that the movie was better, I'm still psyched and can't wait to read it!! Anything that makes me think about Edward is a good way to spend some time! :)
The books really aren't well written, but they are fun. Just ignore the bad writing and enjoy the story!
Well I finally got round to reading all 4 books, and yeah I agree they aren't perfectly written but then I don't think they have ever come across as being anything but a slightly worrying addicting story to be honest. Although I didn't have any withdraw issues with them; 'Arry Potter now that was an awful withdraw I felt so lost at the end, lol.
The film comes out ever here in Olde England tomorrow so I'll be sure to catch that, just need to avoid the crazed teenage fangirls, eeek!
Also, was I, like, the only one who was actually rooting for Bella and Jake? Plus, I would have liked a fast-forward at the end to see what Renesmee is like when fully grown...
All in all though not a bad story.
