The Bloggers With The Most To Say

A facebook friend linked to the following blog, in it the girl claims Christianity and states all the reasons why the Twilight Saga = Devil / Magic / all things bad.

Anyone else have the same views?

I should note I do NOT agree with her views at all. L O L
Hehehe. I just giggled as I read that post.
I am also a Christian, and I think she has some valid points. I also believe, however, that not everyone is effected the same way by everything. I think she made an excellent and mature decision for herself. It's good to know and recognize your limits. I can see how Twilight could be dangerous for some people. I am not a fan of Twilight, just because I don't like it, not because of my beliefs. I have lots of Christian friends who are into the series and the movies. One of them is even an ordained pastor! I believe each individual needs to handle these kinds of things according to their personal beliefs and what's going in their lives.

Meag said she was completely obsessed with Twilight, that could be part of why it got so intense for her. I believe she did the right thing for her, but I don't think it necessarily applies to everyone. There is another scripture where Paul and one of the disciples are at a feast where they are serving the meat of an animal that was sacrificed to a god. One of the disciples asked if they should be eating meat that had been sacrificed, Paul told him if he didn't feel right eating it, then he shouldn't, but Paul was gonna get his food on! It didn't matter to Paul who the meat was sacrificed to, but that didn't make him any less of a Christian, and it didn't make the other less of a Christian NOT to eat the meat. I'll have to find the exact verses where that is, and I'll post it.

So, that's my opinion!
I agree. There are different things that are dangerous for different people. If you are not sure something it right or healthy for you, you shouldn't do it. even if everyone you know can do it without a problem. It's important to listen to yourself that way.

I didn't read the link. So I do'nt know if she was pushing it like it's bad for everyone. That's what I Don't like. If someone finds something to be bad for them fine, but they shouldn't decide it's bad for Everyone.
I definitely appreciate you putting into words what I was trying to form in my mind. Thank you for explaining this so well.

This is exactly how I see things. I have been raised in church, am a Christian and hope that I know my own boundaries.

Where I don't feel bothered by Twilight & Harry Potter - I do feel bothered by certain types of music and other types of movies. I am extremely sensitive to horror movies and can barely make it through the previews without having a full fledged freak out in all ways. So each person is built differently.

More so than pointing out what's wrong in the world, I think we need to just focus on loving everyone. Showing love to all.

(Lack of coherent sentence structure due to migraine medicine, I do apologize)
The main offense of the Twilight series has nothing to do with devils or magic but with the fact that so many will actually read such poorly written stuff - abominable writing really.

The premise doesn't bother me, but I'm agnostic.
Agree on all points.

And I can see really 'hardcore' religious folk pretty much associating anything with the devil.
I agree. I'm completely agnostic, so I don't feel offended in any way by content - but the fact that so many people can go batshit crazy over such poorly written "literature" is just sad, and symptomatic of a cultural trend where people are more and more satisfied with products of lesser and lesser quality. I feel the same way about the Dan Brown books - entertaining? yes. questionable subject matter? perhaps. good writing? hell no.
Everyone has their own beliefs and feelings towards certain things, so I don't discredit her own personal story. If that happens to be her experience, then so be it. But I always find it difficult when people seem to INSIST that their interpretation/understanding of what God says is absolutely, 100% correct. She may have made a few valid points, but I also feel that she was able to use certain quotes from the Bible and apply them - vaguely - to the situation and the books.

I am a Christian, but I don't believe that a fictional book or movie has enough power to give strength to the devil on its own. Perhaps there are a handful of people who read the series and become so involved in it that they start living as if it is real, but for the large majority, it's a trend that teen girls enjoy because of the hot boys and romantic storyline.

Basically, I feel that it's very difficult to say with any amount of confidence what God's view/opinion is on specific things. Obviously the Bible is clear on some things, but there's no chapter about whether or not you should watch/read stories about fictional vampires that sparkle.
Oh man, it's totally the Devil. Satan clearly tempts with shirtless jailbait. ::rolls eyes::
Just to be clear...Especially since I just posted a shirtless picture of Jacob Black on my blog.

17 is the legal age in Texas.

Thank.God. <3
Haha. Yay for Texas!
