Is everyone forgetting that Twilight is a work of fiction and shouldn't matter what your religion says as its not real!!!!

At the end of the day the story is a good one and it lets everyone escape from real life for a while and I can't see anything wrong with it. But everyone is entitled to their opinion and if their religion dictates them its wrong there is no one forcing them to watch or read it.
I personally find this blog to be very disturbing and a little frightening. It's just too much. It's ironic that Twilight is often mocked by "canonical" vampire book readers as the "Christian vampire romance" that preaches abstinence, yet here is a devout Christian claiming it is evil. My main problem with the series, besides being poorly written, is its reinforcing of traditional gender roles and the condemning of any and all sexual activity between teenagers before marriage. I especially don't like the way it encourages dangerous obsessive behavior and a young girl defining herself through a male. Furthermore, the Bible initially wasn't meant to be interpreted literally, but that's opening up a whole different can of worms. Perhaps this girl's experience could be stem from the fact that she was reading something her parents disapproved of; it was maybe guilt for liking something that supposedly was evil. Granted I also think she was stretching the scriptural comparisons quite a bit to fit with the book. It's none of my business. I agree with what's been said that one person's experience is their own, however it does not make that experience universal. Nor does it give them the right to dictate to others what and what not to read.
I think people need to realize that Twilight is a fiction story. I hate that people always scrutinize stories saying that the author had certain beliefs behind the writing. Can a writing write a fiction book with it just being a work of fiction? They did the same thing for Harry Potter. We actually carried books in Barnes & Noble (when i worked there) about the evil beliefs behind Harry Potter and why you shouldn't let your kids read it, and so on and so on. It's depressing to read great books and then hear all the criticism behind it.
I understand the views, and beliefs. But why can't you just choose not to read it? Instead of preach about the so called "dangers" and let people who like the books can enjoy them?
Twilight is a young girl's decision on whether to practice bestiality or necrophelia.
H AHA HA HA!!

That's hilarious. And very true.
I didn't read the link - sorry! - but some people are going to see what they want in any book. It doesn't matter if it's Twilight or Charlotte's Web, The DaVinci Code or Peter Pan. Some people are going to pull religious slantings or views out of whatever they get their hands on.
I'm a big believer in freedom of speech and everything but

She's a complete idiot.

Seriously, she acts as if the book possessed her, wtf? Also, shame on her mother for the suggesting the sinister 'book burning' remedy, that's a great role model.

'Daughter, if you don't agree with what's in a book....yeah, you probably should burn it.'

Also, all those freaking morons congratulating her on casting out the devil? It's the most hysterical, hilarious thing I've ever written. If she was joking, she'd be a comic genius.

I mean, she's insane!

Luckily, it's soooo much more fun having a comment war when they're crazy hahaha
